Option codes

I know, I can't see them anywhere online but they're definitely there in the original list. For the C73 I've also looked at 073, that would indicate a car for Russia. Arrgh, so frustrating!

If you look on the American sites & Clarke's garage it states "C73 Not available" and E76 not even given a mention, printing error?? maybe worth a call to Porsche GB?

Thanks Andy, I may do that. I'm definitely reading it correctly (!) as it is on two stickers and the book. Will make a call!

Hi chaps,

I'm currently decoding my option codes and am stumped on a couple - wonder if anyone can help as I've searched high and low online but can't find them.

They are:

C73
E76

Any ideas?!

Thanks,

Ben

ORIGINAL: benjj Its an 81, one of the very first RHDs
Not catalyst then. I've only ever seen C denote either cat, or refer to country the car was going to, but never that number. If it's one of the very early cars it might have different codes, before UK spec was finalised? The earliest we have in the Register has no underseal, a 924CGT rear spoiler in a different material, and vinyl rather than plastic decals (cut from two 924 badges)!

Ahh, interesting, thanks. I have a chum in Stuttgart who may be able to help, I'll drop him a line. After all this it will of course end up to be an ashtray or something!

Doesn't the C prefix have somthing to do with being a California car? I still reckon you are going to find a misprint on your options stickers, out of interest are they original stickers in the car?

Can be if it's C03, or Canada is C06. Catalyst is C02, I wonder if ze Germans were having an attempt at humour there! [&:] All the options are on this link, including the non "M" option numbers that are the most common. [link]http://www.cantonia.com/option_codes.html[/link] I think the fact that Ben's car is so early might be relevant.

It could be a misprint I suppose but there are two separate stickers on the car and one with the paperwork - all are the same and all are on different types/styles of sticker.

As Simon says, those are build codes, like interior colours or carpet Post the VIN and I will see what Porsche list for it

Yeah, would be interested to see how it compares with what we think is the earliest 944 in the UK. Private email would be fine if you don't want to post it here. [:)]

Could the free PCGB authentication service perhaps help? My certificate came back very quickly and listed all the options, although not the codes for them, so you could perhaps then use a process of elimination..

Possibly, although the CofA service is also available to non-members if they want to pay it's not 100% accurate, so could be even more confusing. Also, there just isn't accurate info on the other very early car available from Reading, and he's had conflicting answers. That's why I'd be interested to see the chassis number to compare them.

..or they could always join the Club of course... IMHO it's worth it just for the CofA and the valuation service (my insurer Aviva accepted the considerably uprated PCGB value assessment at no extra cost to me). Here endeth the advert..

My car has the codes C16 and N48. I came across the information somewhere in the dim and distant past, but i don't know where, that these refer to "UK LUX spec, tinted windows" etc and "partial leather front seats."
