Option Codes

Blue One

New member
Hi

Having got the 996 Companion book for Xmas I have been trying to decipher my car's option codes. The main code on the label under the bonnet lid reads 'L3D8 AD'. I know the 3D8 refers to the Cobalt Blue colour, but can't find the AD code in the book. It will be refering to the interior trim and colour which is black, there is a AE code in the book but nothing for AD. Does anyone know what this exactly refers to?

Many thanks

Like I said on 911UK, the 'A' is black, as we know. I am wondering if the D and E refer to the different types of leather. Mine is AD also, which has smooth leather. Is your smooth or ruffled? Anyone out there with AE? Having said that, my C2 was SP (Savannah & smooth) so it might not be that.

Ring your opc with your chassis no. and they will tell you all the option codes for your car,I too had the 996 book for xmas done the same thing but found not all the codes in the book are listed, opc exeter listed all for free.

Not sure if you're referring to Adrian Streather's book.....if so, this lists AE as "black sports seats" (as opposed to comfort seats). My interior is EG.....but I've been unable to trace a reference to this (my interior is metropole leather sports seats but the same book lists this as EU). OPC is the best option.....

I too used Adrian Streathers Book and another list of Option codes on one of the many Porsche Options sites. I managed to decode all of mine except for X46 and X98 which I have been unable to find anywhere. Adrian thinks they might be to do with the instrument cluster and the exterior around the front bumper respectively although both those areas look pretty standard to me, albeit my instrument cowl and instruments are all black with no silver edging or trim. An 'L' in front of the body colour code stands for Leckerei or paint which all paint codes should start with. Mine is L6B4 which is for the water based seal grey metallic and the Interior is AH which is full black leather. Only other code I have not ceciphered is the final 09991 at the end of the VIN options. Any ideas please. DRDT MY03 996 C2 Tip Coupe.

Another benefit of PCGB membership. [;)] [;)] Option codes from the 996 FAQ (Members Only) page: X46 - Tiptronic Lever in Aluminium/Leather X98 - Handbrake Lever in Aluminium/Leather 09991 means you have options specified from the Exclusive range (the above are two of those)
