option codes

Hi to everyone, I am pleased to join the club having purchased a tidy 996 over Christmas... having a few problems nailing own the optional extras, so if anybody can shed any light would be much appreciated, the service book/vehicle identification states the following Optional equipment

1) C16, any ideas what this is??
2) 014 (This I believe to be the sports package, 10mm lower suspension, traction control, 40% LSD and sports seats)
3) 030 (sports type chassis? would this be stiffer anti roll bars??)
4) 220 (Locking diff so part of 014?)
5) 222 (ASR so part of 014?)
6) 224 (LSD so part of 014?)
7) 234 ?? cant find anything on this?
8) 375/376 part of 014
9) 408 (18" techno wheels, although the car came with standard 17" wheels, so I assume the offset is the same??)
10) 424 CD compartment
11) 490 (MY 01 sound system)


Given the state if UK roads the ride handeling is very good, tyre noise is a bit hit or miss largley depends on road surface, car is on Bridgestones, but cant wait to take over to Austria in the summer, also fancy a trip round
Silverstone as per this months car magazine so wondered if anyone has atteneded driving school? Thanks in advance!

I thought 30 was the part code for the 'sports suspension', i.e. 10mm lower, new slightly thicker anti roll bars.

Hi Guys, thanks for clearing that up, just nice to know what you are actually driving! For the tyres, thought it would have come with bridgestones as factory stanard, currently on Bridgestone Potenza S-02A's which seem pretty good to me, anyone have any experience with these, good, bad or indifferent??

I'm sure ive read somewhere that the lsd is a very rare option to have on a normal carerra.

I've got those Bridgestones my Summer wheels and they seem ok. Had some Michelins before and not a huge difference. Mine has the diff and sports suspension too.

Thanks guys, LSD is nice to have and I think the Bridgestones seem good, given that the roads are still a bit greasy cold, so cant wait for summer and some nice dry warm tarmac! does anyone have any idea if the 17 inch and 18 inch rims have the same offset? Thanks!

Hi Richard, thats great thanks, looking at the RO the 17" wheels are FA 55mm, RA 55mm, the 18" wheels have FA 50 and RA 65, so I guess the question is if the car came with 18" wheels and now has 17" wheels, how does that effect the geometry, or should the car be put back onto 18"? The hubs are in the same position, no matter what wheels are fitted, so the alignment geometry won't change. Because of the different wheel widths for 17" and 18" wheels, the offsets need to be differet, so that the outer faces are in roughly the same position in the wheel arch. The ride is softer on 17" wheels, as the tyre has a deeper sidewall, and the tyres are considerably cheaper, but there is a greater level of grip with 18", and it looks more impressive with the extra width.

Thanks Richard, ride is firm enough with sports pack and sports chassis so think I will stick with the softer 17" set up and just enjoy the car, if I lived in Germany I would go for the 18" as the roads are so much better! Bst Andy
