Guys... I have posted this thread in a few places in the hope of getting plenty of views -
Anyone had experience of using an electric polisher - the random orbital type.
I had been advised to only ever polish in straight lines for application and buffing as this would greatly reduce the risk of swirl marks.
I have been considering getting one after seeing some reduced at my local halfrauds! (had some vouchers for xmas and have got to spend them there).
Any advice, comments or experiences would be greatly receieved! - Cheers

I would allways recommend to polish a car by hand.It looks like someone had used some sort of buffer on the paint work on my car,and it is full of scratches!I work at a suzuki dealer, and the amount of cars we see with bad paintwork, where a owner has used some sort of polisher.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Andrew

Cheers Andy, I had pretty much decided against buying it but was willing to be convinced otherwise, other responses to this (see concours forum) suggest a PORTER CABLE polisher or nothing else... Having seen pro's get fab results with a machine polisher it is tempting, but Im sticking to elbow grease and swissol.
Cheers
