Ordered my 718 Cayman but the price of an option has increased

Hi guys,

I placed my order for my new 718 Cayman back in September and the Sport ChrononPack was £1416.

Just had had a look at the configurator and the price has gone up to £1514.

Now will I have to pay the new price or will they honour the price it was when ordered?

Thanks,
Richard.

Had you put a deposit down at the time of ordering? If so, they should honour the price on invoic.

Yes I put a £3000 deposit down on the car.

Just been to my local OPC and they've confirmed that I have to pay the increased price.

Personally I don't agree with this, I've signed a contract and I don't believe they should be able to pass the price increase on to me. But I'm excited about getting the car so for now I'll just accept it.

That's very annoying Richard. Maybe you can haggle for some extra "treats" on purchase - something insurance-related perhaps, such as gap insurance or an extended warranty which probably doesn't cost the dealership much money.

This is an issue I was getting concerned about considering the current Euro/£ exchange rate. My lock-down order was confirmed early October and invoiced.

I had already sold my CR to the OPC and funds had paid direct to me. My new 718 Cayman S PDK with a substantial options list is now on it's way from the factory to my OPC. Delivery and handover due any day now.

Last Tuesday, 29th November, I checked the payment balance with the sales staff face-to-face, and the balance due was exactly as invoiced on 6th October.

Hope this helps.

That's promising. So when the spec is locked down and I'm invoiced hopefully I won't be affected by any further price rises. I just hope that the actual list price of the car doesn't increase in-between now and spec lockdown!!

Thanks for the info Brian.
