Ordering a Macan, advice please

Just about to pull the trigger on ordering a Macan D S. I have been driving around very happily for the last 3 years in Cayenne Diesel S's so I imagine I will miss the torque but hopefully the better handling and more nimble size will make up for that.

Are there any musty have's on the option list? Going for 21's, adaptive cruise, pano roof, adaptive seats, LED lights, air.

Thanks for any advice.

small items - spare wheel, smoker pack (to put neat cover on gap in console) and 75 litre fuel tank.

If you haven't already done so you can do no better than visit macanownersclub.co.uk where there are forums covering every conceivable aspect of Macan ownership. It's not a club as such and open to all - health warning - they are very enthusiastic at spending your money on spec!! Good luck

Hi Mike - If you want it to look good imo dispose of all the black plastic...degree depends on colour choice ie SD wing mirrors, skirts and rear top and bottom.
I find the blind spot warning in the wing mirrors really useful and btw its quick if you want it to be

I drove a Macan DS back-to-back with a Cayenne D, and I was extremely impressed with Macan's chassis on most UK roads. It just feels that much more precise.

However, I think you will tick a lot of boxes on the configurator to create the optimum spec. I'd probably want the 'air' but no more than 20" wheels. Interior and exterior trim, finishes and colours are fairly personal, but can make a nicer looking Macan and a better place to be.

Have another look at the pano. I wouldn't have spec'd it personally, but SWMBO fancied it and we now use it a lot.
I stuck with spring suspension and ordered PASM and haven't regretted it. The handling with this setup is superb.
We went for 14 way memory seats which saves us having to readjust everything when we swap drivers; also, the leather package (including part leather seats) lifts the cabin.
The light comfort pack is worth having as it provides quite a lot for (relatively) small outlay.
And don't forget to tick the 75 litre tank box!
Regards,

Clive

Thanks a lot all. Very useful. Have now racked up around £19k of options on my Volcano Grey Macan but it will hopefully be a nice car! I would have loved a Turbo but did not want to wait 18 months or whatever it is. Will make do with a Diesel S for now.

Hi
I'm in the fortunate position of having a Macan SD and a recent purchase of a Cayenne SD and in the coming month will be locking down a Macan GTS Spec. for next march delivery.
The Macan was the dealer demo and had everything I wanted but was missing air suspension, full leather interior and reversing camera plus the colour (white) would not have been our choice.
My Cayenne SD has air and full leather interior.
The GTS order will have air suspension/PASM and full leather interior plus alcantara headling (once had other headlinings look cheap). I will also spec the painted grills and gills as the matt plastic is a **** to keep looking good.
I have 21" Turbo wheels on the Cayenne and 20" polished/dk grey spider wheels on the Macan. if you have 21" you defo need air suspension and if any driver using the Macan has a habit of running along the kerb when parking you really need the 20" wheels, as these seem to be surviving really well, my tyre dressing need a re-application each week and i've noted the rim has just survived on a few occasions by the tyre wall witness marks. Unfortunately my wife thinks a car is a car and meant for using and parking anywhere closest to the shops.
I've mentioned it before on the Macan Owners Forum but while the Cayenne does not have a PDK gearbox it can have the best V8 diesel in the world but the Macan Sd will run rings around it on power delivery.
To sum up if I get info that the next cayenne iteration will have PDK with the V8 D I will cancel my Macan GTS and move the deposit to a new 2018 Cayenne if not I 'll live with the 26 to the gallon in the Macan GTS instead of the 37 to 41 mpg we get in the Macan SD at the moment. I'm actually getting 40 to the gallon in the Cayenne SD how i just don't know Euro 6 mods maybe.
The Macan SD is terrific lots of options, poor choice of exterior colours, room for improvement (incl. more power to the SD) in the predicted facelift for 2018.
But you have made a very good choice I see about two other Macans in our East coast area, the Evoque we had before is getting to be one on every street.
Oh! and white well it grows on you and at least you can see the road tar marks every wash day (G Techniq tar and glue remover is the bizz). Its also very in with a star wars stormtrooper look.
I'm with Clive on the Pano roof we have them and use them most days, in fact Tuesday evening nice and warm with a full moon driving through Norfolk back roads it was like having a soft top.
