Original interior or not :/

In my search or quest for the ideal 944 turbo, I have an odd question.

I have been told many years ago that Porsche tend to push new buyers into ordering their car with a contrasting interior. Dark coloured cars, light coloured interiors - Light coloured cars , dark coloured interiors.

I really want to get myself a dark coloured 944 Turbo, but every one I see follows this pattern, a pale interior. But I would prefer in an ideal world to get a 944 turbo which is black, with a black interior.

Do I have my hopes too high?

Is it easy to change the interior over?

How much should I pay for an interior in black leather (sports seats)?

Would I actually be devaluing the car by swapping the interior? (and would anyone actually know, is an interior code marked in the car anywhere like a paint sticker)

Last but not least.

If I am going to change the interior, how much less should I pay for a car with a tatty interior?

All black exists. I nearly bought a Turbo cab a couple of years ago partly because it was "triple black". They are less common than black with "linen" however.

Linen (in a black car) had a black dash top, headlining etc. but you'd still need a black lower dash, seats, door cards, centre console and carpet to change the colour to all black. If you find one in any colour other than linen you'll need to add a dash top, steering wheel, gearlever knob/gaiter and headlining to that list. I'd suggest it's not really viable unless the car comes with a black headlining.

If you do want to swap you should still buy one with nice linen sports leather - it should be worth at least as much as a black equivalent as it's popular and less easy to keep looking nice, and it's indicative of the car generally being well looked after.

Might have been true on the UK market, as a good 90% of LHD cars you are likely to see (for sale) in (mainland) Europe have dark interiors regardless of body colour.

PS : already back Fen ? Fed up with eating mutton for breakfast I suppose ?

I have both a Lux and a Turbo that are black on black. The Lux was converted but the Turbo had it as standard. It is possible to find, keep looking!
