OK I'm at the end of my tether now. All I want is to insure the Astra diesel that I have bought to replace the Boxster and insure the Boxster till it's sold. Churchill want £60 per month on top of what i already pay for the Astra for the privilege . The Astra is £30 a month , that being the sum I was paying for the Boxster. So I am now charged double what i was paying for the Boxster to have it sit on my drive and use it less!!!![][][][]
I have 8+ years no claims which I can't split and Churchill only recognise 5 years of anyway . I have tried other firms all with similar problem. As for multicar , forget it same thing .
annoyed of kent[][][][][][][][][][][][][][]

Does it make any difference if you have the Boxster as the main car with the Astra as an add on?

And in case you're wondering at the lack of replies:

a) you mention B*xster on the 964RS forum...........[]
b)you mention Astr* on a Porsche forum.....[&:]
c) you mention Diseasal.......[:'(]

GT3 is going to be banned soon though........................[:D]

was going to say" least i didn't mention GT*" but you beat me to it[:D]. No difference to quote unfortunately, the D**sel A**ra is a SRI version with the optional 150PS engine so is worth, oddly enough, a bit more than the Bo* hence parity in insurance terms.[:(] The only other way forward at the mo is a classic policy. Which means I cough up the full amount and then cancel when i sell. Which wouldn't be too bad If I wasn't going to be insuring the RS and getting it back on the road in the next few months. The other downside is the cancellation is done on a % scale so works out even more than what Churchill are asking ! Too many out goings with too little incomings = misery i beleive.[:(]

If the B*xsters not going on the road, could you insure it on a Laid Up policy???

Laurence, just SELL the Boxsta, then you have the Astra on a ncb earning policy and Rs on a classic.....I appreciate in between you are paying additionally for the Boxsta,,but it's not like this is going to hang around for long...get polishing, marketing aggressively and moving it on...if still here in a couple of weeks,,,move the price down until it sells.
So for the sake of 1 months additional policy payment, it is not worth doing anything else surely?

Decisions, decisions, decisions..........

Why don't you buy it off him Paul -I can see you in a B*xster.....[:D]

Actually Melv that's not a bad idea , just the other way around. Put the Astra on laid up until Box sells might be a plan.
Paul I appreciate the comments and I do hope it sells quickly. Problem is, that I put it up for sale at about the worst time of year. Late December early Jan with the worst cold spell for many a year. Oddly people have not beaten a path (through the snow[:D]) to my door[:D].which means by a stroke of bad luck i have already paid out a couple of times for churchill's cover. Still now the weather is showing faint signs of improving who knows[:)] I do know it will sell , it's a good little car. Just have to be paitent i suppose.

Laurence, to keep this relevant, at least when you sell the Boxsta, you can then get to use your sublime 964RS...(there, mentioned an RS!)

I wouldn't get too hung up on the weather, since the beginning of the year, I have friends who have bought an Elise, Mx5, yellow 996 and off to view a Caterham with another tomorrow.

With respect and hoping it helps, but you perhaps need to work on your ad? [:)]

PH, is an excellent resource for selling cars, the last 2 sporting cars I sold on there, went either the same or next day at asking price.

There is scope for 9 photos, use them, front/back/side/interior/roof down...etc..

You mention home service, which may initially be perceived as a nagative,,,perhaps mention that you are a serial Porsche enthusiast and list out what you have done in the ad,,show the car has been over serviced that it has been so well cared for, rather than you couldn't be fussed to run it down to a garage...You have to sell the car, not give a reason for the seller not to call.

Obviously you have to be truthful (as you would be), but when advertising on the internet as a medium, I find it helps to show enthusiasm about the car over the period you have owned it, that attracts a buyers attention, rather than skip to the next ad.

MOT is long, is it worth getting a full years...???...also best to fix anything that may need expenditure soon, any new tyres etc and other recent expenditure are a plus.

If the above is irrelevant, either too much work or you just want rid, how about Ebay with a reserve figure?

Good cars at sensible money are selling with the current financial/weather conditions, once they reach a target audience, there is no reason why this shouldn't be gone by next week...good luck!

Some good points Paul. I admit i have been a bit lack lustre with the ad, guess it reflects my enthusiasm for selling it and selling cars in general (i have sold quite a few in my time, succesfully i should add ! ). The amount of pointless rime wasters wears you down after time. I will re think the ad.
Perhaps you should think about a consultancy role with Henry. I think he would be highly intrested in someone able to sell cars as quickly as yourself. [:D]

This insurance topic has some relevence to 964RS owners:
