Is the old Titanic 944 forum still active?
Errrrr, its still there but not exactly active.
There's normally a small flurry of emails every few months saying 'test', or 'is the list still active'

It's a shame, but it dwindled away largely because of the difficulty in getting new people on it. I, and Martyn before me, used to include it in our welcome letter to new Club members, but the link was down for ages, I think over a year. If you can't get new people on a forum it gets very stale very quickly.
I also tried to inject a bit of interest both ways by suggesting one year that, instead of 7 blokes standing around outside a windswept pub we came to the Club Headquarters open day instead, followed by lunch at the nicer pub the 944 massive used regularly as part of the exciting drive there and back. It would have been good to have something to do other than get cold, and would have got more people along who might have invigorated Titanic. Some of you will remember how that went down, although the abuse and threats I got from one Titanic member were all made personally. It was a real shame, it just seemed that a few of the long-term members of Titanic, some not even owners any more, wanted it to stay a closed "club". Of course, most people had moved on, either to other cars, or to forums such as this one or Tipec.
Titanic was great fun, it was my first introduction to the cars, the Club and most of the people who've become good friends through my seven years of 944 ownership. Whether you can now get access to it again I don't know, I haven't tried because time's limited and you only need so many places to discuss the same things.

Fond memories of jaunts to Croft and Lake district from Glasgow
My first outing was to a pub near me, organised by Andy Mays, who's car is now back here again under new ownership; everything comes full-circle!
Out of the people there, I'm still in touch with John, Tony and Rick, of course, but also Fen, Leigh, and Will Pressland at least. That's probably half the people who went, and it was about seven years ago now. Impressive how the Titanic community was so close, it's a shame it couldn't have continued really.
I wonder how many people from the Rutland meet on Sunday will still be around in another seven years time, I suspect a good few of us will be! [
