Just received my Porsche warranty renewal invitation......£895 against the £750 I'm sure I paid last year - as near as damnit a 20% increase!

I'll be asking a few questions on Monday - but has anyone had any feedback as to why such an increase? With general inflation low, this suggests that Porsche have been taking a bit of a hit on warranty claims.....

Cheers,
Mike.

What is the age of the car? I'm expecting that this will have some bearing on the matter. My S came with almost a full years extended warranty from the previous owner so I shan't know how much a renewal will cost until August.

On this subject, I have a question myself. I've seen mention in a number of previous posts of the check process that the car has to go through before they will issue the warranty. Is this included in the warranty cost or do they try and screw a bit more out you for the checkup? I guess if they find a problem that they are only to pleased to point it out and give you a price for fixing it! [:'(]

When you say "almost a full years", I assume you bought the car privately then? In that case you simply renew the expired policy; you need to renew before it expired and there is no additional checks which a new extended warranty policy have to go through (for an additional cost). If you bought it from the OPC then I assume the same applies but a private dealer policy would be different and you would need to pay extra for the checks before qualifying for the Porsche extended warranty.

Mike,
I am afraid the price was increase (think in November) but there is still nothing with the comparative cover out there for that price.

Yep. It was a private purchase. Thats some reassuring good news from my point of view. Deserving of one of these in fact... [:)]

Based on the seamingly increased number of RMS claims over the past year, I suspect quite a few OPCs are taking advantage of the warranty scheme as it's extra revenue for their service dept to the cost of the warranty dept who passes on the cost to you know who... [8|][&:]
