Oulton Park - Convoy

Fred Hindle

New member
This is open to any region etc not just R18.
Anyone who wishes to join a small convoy to Oulton Park, on Saturday 15th March (Porsche RS Track Day), leaving Charnock Richard about 09:15 please be at Charnock Richard Services (Southbound) at 09:00
This will not be a high speed dash as I shall be in my 940.
Route will be down the M6, along the M56 and then a trundle down the A49. A distance of approx 41 miles so we should be at Oulton Park and enjoying a brew at 10:15. (Bring you own mug and a flask of hot water, I'll supply the brewing gear, coffee, sugar, sweeteners and milk). (Bring your own tea bags if needed, I don't drink the stuff).
If you are interested in joining us you are more than welcome. Add a post with name please.

Cheers,

Fred,

I will be going but not sure what time, if all goes to plan I will be trying to get on track in the
afternoon so I maybe doing some last minute fettling in the morning.

I might have a wander down Fred, its only half an hour for me!, Not sure what time though, depends on Rugby commitments!

Fred, I'd like to hop onto that 'train' but would be joining the M6 at J23 (Haydock) or maybe J22 as I can 'park' over the Motorway and look out for you coming down[:D]

Must warn you that my elderly (!) father will also be coming in his 964 so we will have to keep the speeds down so that he can keep up....[;)]

There are some things that a now ageing son shouldn't say or even think, especially when a father still has enough brain(in his head, unlike others I can mention) to enable a rapid revision of his will![:)]

This is not the place to air family bickerings. Nick, your father has a cerebral dysfunction brought about by age, unfortunately for you it is hereditary.[:)] (And I'm not taking about being folically challenged)[;)][:)]

Nick,
Charnock Richard to Junction 23 (East Lancs) is approx 10 to 12 mins so if you do want to join up with us I can give you a ring on your mobile when we are about to leave the Services. Is your Dad coming from the Lancashire Costa Geriatrica? I assume he'll be coming down the M57 rather than using the M6. We can pick him up on the A49 but he knows his way to Oulton Park so probably see him there.
Have you still got my mobile number? If not then email me, I'm assuming yours hasn't changed.

The 'convoy' (well, John and I at the moment) will be a Volvo 940 Estate in the vanguard so legal speed limits will be observed unless John takes the lead and we have a mis-guided tour of Cheshire going to Oulton Park.

(Nick - Your avatar is much better now, India Pink instead of Orange Peel)[:)]

Cheers,

I wondered what the 940 meant? I was thinking which Porsche derriviative is that?[8|] drrrrrr!

I suppose you will be parking with the MGB owner down by the skips![:D][:D][:D]
I'll bring a few chicken legs to share out!

Okay Zeb, I'll bring a tow rope so you can keep up with us.

Craig,
Smaller chicken legs than the dinosaur ones you brought to Woodvale would be good.

In fact, there is a possibility of a Jacob's Join here ( a la Woodvale). Anyone else up for it? I'm taking the brewing gear so will provide coffee.

Cheers,

I will bring the wit, grace & wisdom of the older generation. At least I won't be in a "Volvo".Any motorist worth his salt would also know that the route from Geriatica Land is via Altcar Moss,Maghull, them M58 onto the M6 .

Being a yorkshireman i'll bring a natural air of superiority, charm, grace and good humour. I will not be able to bring anything as my boot will be full of tow ropes and warning triangles....oh and a large stick to beat hindle with.......[:D][;)]

If I were following type then i should bring black pudding, pork scratchings and tripe...but i'll go to sainsburys instead and bring some pork pies and what not[:D]

It'll have to be a big stick, I'm pretty thick skinned. (and its not just the skin thats thick - said it for you).

Note to all - Bring a mug or mugs for the coffee. If you want tea you'll have to bring tea-bags - I don't drink it.

Cheers,

Hello People,
It looks as if Oulton Park maybe a bit wet next Saturday but not to worry.
Coffee making etc will still be done in the back of the Volvo Estate. Making brews will be a lot quicker if you could bring a flask of hot water with you, this will mean that it only has to go into the kettle for a quick re-heat to bring it back to boiling. Also don't forget to bring a mug of some description.
Perhaps on the day we could wangle the use of a garage for our communal eating.
(A bribe of a hot cup of coffee may swing it!)
Hopefully, see you at Charnock Richard, or on a motorway bridge (Nick) or at Oulton Park itself (Craig, Colin, Peter and anyone else).

Cheers,

Cheers,
Colin.

Fred, good to see you again - unfortunately I had to dash off as my better half was poorly and getting worse! Didn't manage to see you to say goodbye, but thanks for the coffee!

Regards

Nick,
Yes , good to see you again, as it was to see everyone. Turned out to be a rather good social event. People were able to put faces to names, quite funny people saying what there forum name was when meeting people. Hope your other half isn't too seriously ill.
We were quite lucky with the weather, a bit of rain come the last half hour but not a bad drive home apart from a black 993 that kept getting in the way! [:)]

Hope everyone got home safely. Big thanks to the RS boys for organising a superb day.

Cheers,
