Did this on Saturday. Great fun. Any advice, particularly on facial expression technique, gratefully received.

You had me really excited there for a moment, I thought you were doing this in the RS...........................

Was that a sigh of relief at the end?

yeah, don't use that with your Mrs....

Good point. Could that be why she wants a divorce?

Don't think I'd do it in the RS Lindsay. The tyres are too close and would damage the tissue paper bumpers. Also there are some quite deep holes at the side just off the tarmac which could be nasty for splitters/sills etc. Now, Carl's car would be fine. Can we all do it in yours Carl?

If you don't mind me asking - how much was it? Do you feel it improved your car control at the limits? I want to do something similar to give me a bit more confidence in pushing the car harder....

That was sort of why I did it and to learn the car. It was ÂŁ125 I think for the day. I certainly improved through the day and got good feel for it by the end. I'm not sure how it will translate to normal grippy Tarmac. Because it was slippy and wet you can drift at very low speed and not using much power. On normal Tarmac you have to go much faster and use more power to break traction and its altogether more violent and snappier. I think it does help to build experience of controlling the drift and avoiding over correction and handling the transition form one side to the other without spinning. And it lets you see how your own car responds when really sliding. But again with normal grip the suspension loading will be very different.

It was great fun anyway.

yes, thats kind of my concern - was thinking about doing a carlimits day (http://www.carlimits.com/) as I reckon its more about the high-speed stuff.......

I see they mention Crail as a venue. Would be up for that if they did it. I wonder if we could get other people interested and book him up for a day? It looks like he normally does it with 4 people. Assuming there is reasonable run off. Or possibly north Weald if it coincided with another reason to go abroad.

Its a few years since I've been near crail, but the surface was VERY rough - potholes etc....not sure I'd want to be going sideways in a 911 with expensive wheels/suspension....also not a huge amount of run-off depending on which part of the airfield it was held. I see they also do Blyton Park which is a bit closer....

Blyton looks great. Don't think I could bring myself to go drifting on dry tarmac in the Porsche. Do you know what those rear tyres cost!

I would be keen on something like this, I think Greame you need to use the GT3, if you can master overgrip handling in a GT3 you've got it mastered. I once did a drifting course down at Milbrook, geat day in a Caterham.
