Just look at 'amateur' Ferry Man's pix............

..least they haven't got his name scrawled across the images!!!! [;)]

Im not a professional far from it i think it just takes the piss when people use your images you work hard to get without your permission. I though some of you guys would of appreciated me taking the time and effort to sign up and post my pictures for you to see.

Hi Riad, I'm sure your photos are appreciated just as much as all the others on the official 'Oulton Pics & Videos Thread'... [;)]

When you watermark your images 'RA Photography' right across the middle of the car and ask people to contact you if interested in a high-res file it sounds like you're a professional trying to make money out of the owners - whereas others on here take photos of peoples cars for the enjoyment of it and are happy for a person to get access to a great shot of THEIR OWN car.

Please stick around and keep posting.

I am an amateur like yourself, and tried all day to get shots with the car in focus and still, against a blurred background - but failed !

What settings do you use to catch that effect as I do like those images.

What camera you using mate?
Riad

Just a little Panasonic LX5 with the nice Leica lens and full manual control over most functions.

Tried 1/200th second and although background is blurred out, I could not get the car image stable on panning.

Maybe you just need to work on your panning technique, Have a look at other photos and look at the exif data this tells you what the person has been shooting at for example 120 F/8.0 I tend to shoot at that.

Have a look at this a guide that i used to refer to! i have only been using my camera for around a year, Hope this helps.

Panning

There are various methods of panning, but here are some basics to get you started, you will probably find you then adapt this to suit your own style"¦.

Setup
Set the shutter speed to 1/320 as an absolute maximum, any faster and you won't get the blurred effect.
Change the focus mode to "AF-C" (also known as "˜AI_Servo', or whichever setting on your camera will continually re-focus as you pan) if possible, this will force the camera to continually refocus, important when a car is about to pass at 80mph.
As a dry run track a car as it passes, find a good level of zoom so it fills the viewfinder nicely when in front of you.

Shooting (Side-on Pan)
Track the car through the viewfinder at the earliest possible opportunity
Hold the shutter release down half-way to initiate focus
Continue to track the car with the button half-pressed, the camera will continue to refocus
Fully press the shutter release at the point where you want to capture the car
Continue to track the car in a smooth movement

The most important thing is to "˜follow through', there should be no pause or abrupt end once you have taken the shot, continue to pan smoothly and you are more likely to get the shot.

Well, I missed the whole event so I really appreciate your pics Riad [;)]

Steve's are good as well [;)][;)]

Thankyou all .....
