hi all,
dont know if this is the right place to post, but got our first porsche ,944 2.7,drove 400 odd mile round trip to get it,and its a dream to drive and lovely condition too, much respect to the previous owners for keeping a 209000 mile car in this condition, its like new, loads of documented history.
we promise to keep it as good as it is,actually scared to sit in it ,in case it gets dirty lol.
arrived home 1 am thurs morn, dash lights are helluva dim, thats my only quibble.
anyway pics say more than words
at sevices on way home

and some today, dirty from the 217 mile journey home

Yes this is the perfect place to post news about your new toy. Congrats on the purchase, it certainly looks a credit to the previous owners over the 209k miles it has covered. Many of our cars are over or approaching the double ton mileage and it just shows what a well made model they are [:)]

Hi and welcome, thats a very nice looking car, congratulations on your new purchase ! [:)] The dim dash lights will more than likely be down to degradation of the prisms and can be fixed either by their replacement or by changing to a LED kit depending on your preference.

Looks very nice, especially considering its done 200,000+. Just goes to show that when looked after these cars can just go on and on.

Very nice! I've seen cars with half the mileage no where near as tidy as that. Spot on with your choice of colour too

Gullydeckels are my favourite wheels too. They were an option on the 924 Turbo and on 1987 & 1988 220 Turbos, IIRC.

wow,thanks for the great welcome.
went a wee drive in it again today and its just great, although the speedo needle decided to have a mind of its own ,intermitent jumping up and down,im hoping its just a sensor or loose wire.

ive got a set of boxster 17" alloys with 205 50 17 and 2554017 tyres, was wondering if they will fit straight on,anybody know if possible as id like to take the 16s off and properly polish them

cheerz again
Ed

With a nominal 7" wheel you need an offset of 52.3mm: 52mm rounded down. For 8" wheels this increases to approximately ET65mm and to ET78mm for 9" rims. This is really only really important for the front, because theyre sensitive. Theyre not sensitive to rear offset though, so whatever will fit will work.

Id keep the Gullydeckels though. I wouldnt call them ClubSports, theyre different, but theyre made by Fuchs and theyre forged, so theyre excellent wheels.

thats great thanks,im defo keeping the polished wheels,i just want to spend a bit of time polishing them to mirror shine,i work as a wheel refurber and got the boxster wheels for my lt35 work van as 5x130 pcd,but decided against it,so they are just lying around anyway

ill add some details about the car, that are included in the paperwork.
engine rebuilt at 178000 miles by two plus two ltd(west midlands)
infact many thousands of pounds spent upkeeping this car by this garage from 1993 to 2006
all belts and fluids changed 3000 miles ago
and most recent mot with no advisories[:)]
service book up to date some porsche and rest porsche specialist

I know the belts were done 3000 miles ago but how many years ago was that ? General wisdom is that it should not be any more than four years between belt changes and ideally just three regardless of mileage. Just a thought thats worth checking.

this place is great, a fountain of knowledge, its great, thanks,
belts done 2007,and then stuff retensioned later on,ive found a porsche specialist local so will get it booked in and keep everything shipshape
