Out at the weekend

Well guys the weather looks like its dry all weekend with temps up to 14 degrees so who will be hitting the road this week end I for one will have the Turbo out.[:D][;)][:D][:)]

Well it's our Region's meet on Sunday and as I missed the last one due to car having work done to it I'll be out and about looking forward to it.

I'll be out and about too - off over to North Wales at some point.

Dry roads, who'd have thought it?![:D]

Woo hoo! Bring on the summer. I'll be out in mine this morning doing my penultimate IAM observed drive.

Put at few bends in for me Nick.

I was also crossing my fingers my car would be back, so I too could have a spin over to Snowdonia direction, but alas my car is still not back [:(]

Will do my best!

Just off to get it out of the garage and go and top it up with some super unleaded.

Fun, fun, fun[:D][:D][:D]

Just out for a run to view a couple of houses. And the graveyard.....[]

Not sure what message a red Porsche will send to the sellers, but the Estate Agents will love it!

Apologies to all you lovely estate agents.....[:)]

Had a lovely ride over to Rockingham raceway today (my son did a First Drive experience for 15 year olds). Saw plenty of Boxsters and loads of bikes but not a single 944 [:(]

We watched a skid pan training session for about an hour - the smell of burning rubber and brake pads was luvverly and made me want to do donuts in the car park, but it was gravel and the thought of all the stone rash on my sills brought me to my senses.

Well I'm now definitely more in tune with my car after driving to North Wales and back this afternoon.

Hummed along the motorway bits and then was simply superb along the winding A & B roads to my destination.

Now beginning to feel more at ease with managing the arrival of the boost ([:)]) and the brakes are great now that the Porterfield pads are fully bedded in. The boost and the brakes make overtaking a breeze!

Stopped part way to change the tyre pressures as the 32 all round that I initially had was making the initial turn in too 'soft', so I now have 34f and 32r, which stops the rears hopping too much over ripples in the road when 'boosting'! The Bilstein suspension gives superb damping over the roads at speed, but I did notice the tramlining when braking hard on rough roads - no suprise with those wheels and the lowered suspension settings.[&:]

Did not see one other Porsche, let alone another 944!

Couple of pics from today

Another one..

That really is a nice looking car I so want to make mine look like that still.

Has everyone noticed that with all the nice weather it also brings the idiots out I've had more hassle from idiots on the roads today than I have for a few months.

At numerous times today I've had people tailgating me through 30 limits then at National speed limit parts disapear behind in the mirrors, then at next 30 limit closer still to the back of me why do they do it?

Also had people try and cut me up on 2 different roundabouts, and a cyclist try and spit on my car as I passed them. Not really enjoyed driving the car today to be honest only one small stretch of country road and that was it.

I did not have any negative reactions yesterday at all, although I did get the tailgaters the first couple of times i went out in it and did wonder if i'd done the right thing buying a red one![8|]

I would hope that people would see it as a classic as opposed to some flash git in a red Porsche [] and I do try to be extra considerate...[;)]

I think I worked it out there was a lot of cyclists on that road and they were starting to get everyones back up so that probably explains it really.

Had a good day today though, out for this month's regional meeting with a decent convoy drive up to the meeting point always a pleasurable drive.

Took mine out today for the first time in about 2 months. Let it warm up over a period with medium revs at lower speeds, finally came to a dual carrigeway and hit the time warp pedal and a huge cloud of soot and clinker covered the chaved up CivicR following me right up my chuff [8D] (bit embarassing and worrying).

I left him and gave the car its full head through the gears, superb, forgot what 951`s are all about [:D].

Next time I did the same there was just a slight puff of black smoke (usual on mine after pootling along) so I was quite relieved. Must have been all the cr*p in the car from shunting it in and out of the garage so my son can throw time and money at his Mk 1 Golf project.

I did notice the tramlining when braking hard on rough roads - no suprise with those wheels and the lowered suspension settings

Have you had (or has the car had) 968 castor mounts fitted? Considered essential with 17" wheels and bigger.
