Out with the 2S, in with the new...

Well I've deliberated about Mike's white GT3, then decided to keep my C2S for another 4 years..... Well that was the plan and this was definately the intention when I walked into Reading OPC on Saturday......[:)] Then madness ensued...

After 4 years of really enjoying my C2S, I decided to buy one of the last remaining new C4 GTS Coupe's in Meteor Grey complete with an Aerokit.

Spec:
PDK / Sports Chrono Plus
Alcantara interior / Sport seats
ParkAssist
Spyder Centre lock wheels
Heated seats + Rear seats (just incase I ever need them!)
Nav / Phone / Audio Interface
Heated seats
Aerokit
Cruise
Rear wiper
Silver grey seat belts

I'm hoping to get it this Saturday all being well. I will really miss my C2S but can look back on many fond moments of driving it. However, I'm now so looking forward to getting into the GTS and enjoying many more to come!

I will post pictures once I've got my hands on it.

Cheers,
Simon

Congratulations Simon on an excellent choice of motor [:)]
In the best colour too...[;)]

Thanks chaps for the comments. I'm soooo excited about picking it up. It will happen on Saturday as hoped so just a few sleepless nights left to go [:)]

I found out I have the same taste as Richard Hammond who just did exactly the same a few months ago, his just in black with an aerokit also.

I love the colour. I nearly went for another black one but after seeing the grey on another GTS my mind was made up on the spot! The one change I've asked for is to just have "GTS" on the back rather than endless badging they insist on putting on the cars.

I cant wait! [:)]

Are you going to run it up to Silverstone on Wednesday Simon? Perhaps not on track just yet though! Look forward to seeing your new purchase in the metal.
Mike.

Hi Mike,

It's looking like I'm going to have to work Weds at this rate which is really annoying me as a Silverstone trackday would be just the tonic.

I am however hoping to get to the Trout on Sunday for lunch with the gang. Will you be there?

Cheers,
Simon

You will love it, I've just returned from the IOM weekend and followed Gary Marsh in Jayne's GTS over the mountain and does it go in the right hands I could not keep up although thats more to do with the driver and lack of bottle !

It really does look good with the aerokit I'm sure you will have lots of fun and many smiles. [:)]

Thanks Geoff - I'm looking forward to my first drive in it tomorrow. 9am slot as I'm desperate to get my hands on it. 1 sleepless night remaining [:)]

I have to say Craig at Reading has been quite possibly the best person I have ever bought a car from. 110% for customer service.

Simon,
I'm off to Welshpool for the weekend so will miss seeing your new purchase- look forward to the pics in due course. Enjoy! [:)]

I see your on line so how was it, the first drive ?

Collection from OPC, sign all docs, Bottle of champers ? Flowers ? then the first drive Wow ! big smiles all the way home ?

Nothing is quite the same, I'm sure we are all big kids at heart .

Certainly a big grin all the way home Geoff. First of all, Reading provided me the best experience ever from the moment I walked through the door of the OPC through to handover. Small touches including photos everyday during prep, the Sports Chrono set to exactly 9:11, cover on car just showing the rear quarter with aerokit visible were just examples of attention to detail. You can't say better than that....

Onto the car (and I will work on pictures after this message).

Visually, the aerokit didn't disappoint. It suits the car especially in meteor grey, pleased about that [:)] In terms of required spec I had the choice of two cars one with full leather, the other with the alcantara. It was a tough one but I decided alcantara and wasn't unhappy with the choice. The seats offer lots of "bottom-end" grip which I reckon will prove good on track. I love the feel of the alcantara wheel also, especially with the paddles. Whilst I had no problem with the puddles, the paddles feel far more sporting. I'll be using these far more now.

The first thing I noticed about the car on initial pull away was the sound of the induction. With the powerkit on board, it has a much throatier lower pitched sound than my 2S. I personally like it but haven't really pushed the rev-range at this stage to see how it sounds at the top end yet. Obviously the engine still feels tight but you can feel the extra urgency/perkiness of the powerkit at low-revs especially in 3rd. I'm looking forward to it loosening up so I can really sample the extra top end performance.

The car feels stiffer at the rear (stronger anti-roll bar) and the front certainly feels more planted than the 2S. I'm looking forward to pushing it harder soon and will I'm sure sample rain at some point to see how it behaves.

What don't I like? Well nothing really. I miss the volume rocker of the MFSW I had on the C2S. That's the only gripe which goes to show how pleased I am with the car overall. Road-noise seems about the same, same tyres as before.

Louise and I want to do more European excursions with the group to really appreciate the new car, so hopefully we'll get along to one soon.

Finally, not everyone appreciates the new car. A hairy biker with "attitude" who wasn't tailgating me decided he wanted to show me his middle finger as he went passed me on the A404. Not very nice I thought. He then proceeded to do it to every car he went passed. UK driving standards at their best again [:)]

Anyway, I'm absolutely loving the new car and I know after this short time that I'm going to have so much fun driving the new 911.

Cheers,
Simon

Photos to come...

Having seen the car today, I have to say that the added bits that Simon has done, really do add to the car.

Yes indeed [:)] Very kind sir!

I may have some much better shots in my hands soon as John (on this forum) hopefully will be getting some tasty photos this weekend once I've got the flies off it!

Cheers
