Outdoor car cover for 944 Turbo.

Does anyone have any experience to report on the purchase and use of the above? Am shortly required to forfeit my space in the garage, to accommodate the imminent arrival of the wifes new Ford Streetka!!! [&:] My car will be now parked on a relatively sheltered driveway, but will have to contend with rain, wind, snow and ice, so want a good quality cover to combat the worst of the Scottish weather. [] Had a look on the Classic Additions website, but does anyone have any alternative suggestions?
Any input would be much appreciated.

Car covers have been discussed a couple of times before on the Forum.

Hope these links work...

Anyone got any more to add? (and it might be worth asking on the 944 forum, and over at Titanic for 944 specific experience).

Oh weird!

I'm sure I clicked on your message in the Scotland forum - and suggested you post in the 944 forum.

And my reply ends up on the message (which did not exist when I started posting!) on the 944 forum...

do-di-do-do, do-di-do-do...

I used Classic Additions myself in February when I was getting a cover for my newly-restored 924; I bought the Custom Lightweight and I have to say it was fantastic value for money and is still doing a great job. The guys at Classic Additions are also really helpful.

Have now bought, for a very reasonable sum of money, a used "lightweight waterproof" cover, originally purchased from Classic Additions, complete with the invoice for my files!!
It required a little duck tape, where the area around one of the vents had ripped, but seems to be in excellent shape otherwise.
Used it for the first time last night and, notwithstanding the winds best efforts to remove it, it seems to have withstood the onslaught!!! [:)]

Excellent news Derek.

Keep an eye on the bodywork during windy weather. I have heard tales of grit getting blown up between the cover and the car and then with a bit of flapping...........well you can guess []

At least you will be washing it less now [:D]

Actually washed it before I put the cover on! How sad am I??? [8|]
Cheers for the info - will watch out for grit etc.

I had a very bad experience of car covers.

Years ago my race car was on display at the NEC for the International Motorsport Show. As you would expect, I spent weeks cleaning and preparing the car for the event. Thinking that I was doing the right thing, I made up a cover to protect the car on the trip from Essex to Birmingham. When I unvailed my pride and joy at the event I was horrified, the wind action on the cover had abraided the finished surface where ever the cover was strapped to the car. I had to spend hours T Cutting the marks out of the GRP gell coat [:(]

I would suggest that both car, and inside of the cover should be spotlessly clean. I would further suggest the application of low tack tape to all projecting edges (eg roof gutter line, wing corners, and any tight strapping points etc) to lessen any possibillity of abraision.
