Outdoor Car Cover

Hi All,

I'm after an outdoor car cover as my car sits on the drive under an Oak Tree, I need to clean it every other day because of the sap!
I don't want the giant Porsche badge advertising what it is, so can anyone recommend another make that keeps the rain out?
I have had them before and after heavy rain it was just as wet underneath as if I didn't have the cover on.
Thanks

Hi,

I kept my car under cover for 4 months using a £50 Halfords cover it seemed to work OK. I did not really check if the car got wet underneath but on uncovering it the paintwork was almost as shiny as when I covered it up and none of the Pigeon Sh*t on the cover left any marks underneath or on the paintwork.

I have a custom fitting cover made by Specialised Covers: http://www.specialisedcovers.com/
Not the cheapest, but certainly worth it.

So do I and I agree.

I have been advised by a mate of mine that covers are great as long as the car and cover are both clean. Significant dirt on either can fret and wear with cover movement in the wind if its outside which wears initially the polish on the car (not a big deal) and if bad, the lacquer/paint gloss. Coult this be more of an issue if it's not custom made? Be interested to hear others opinions

Probably still a good idea for you to get a cover to prevent sap and bird s**t which as we know can be equally damaging.

I bought the Halfords cover today, not had chance to fit it as the car is covered in sand and sap.
With building work going on as well there is also dust everywhere.

I use my car everyday so the cover will only be on over night, but I go on holiday next week so I need to clean and cover before I go.
I will give you feedback on my return to see how the cover has bared up.

I've got a custom fit outdoor cover for my 987 Boxster, bought second hand but as yet not used by myself. I got it really cheap so not really bothered if I use it or not.

My concern is that I've heard horror stories about covers causing micro blistering of the paint, anyone else heard this?
