Outdoor Cover

Hi David, What do you want from your cover? I have a Weathershield from Covercraft, which is great for what I need it for - it squishes down to nothing and keeps stuff off the car overnight whilst I am touring in the summer. It fists like a glove and I'm very happy with it. However it's not a heavyweight / heavy duty cover suitable for year-round use. There are others such as Covercraft Noah for that sort of thing, but they are not really portable being bulky and heavy.

My Boxster has to live outside as Garages are a rarity in these parts. We do have a driveway which is a nice luxury. I did try a few covers on my 944 and concluded that they don't really work. When we had strong winds it inevitably gets under the cover and flaps around. If there is any dust on the car this immediately starts to scratch the paint. I tried multiple straps around the car to no avail. After 2 reasonably priced covers ripped themselves to pieces in high winds I just gave up. I didn't ever try covers costing over £100 so can't comment on higher cost options. My advice would be to spend your money on Zymol. Clean and wax the car well and this will provide superb protection against the elements.

I have used a Covercraft Noah for about three years now. It is catproof (vital in my neighbourhood) and is heavy enough not to flap around in the wind too much. However, as Mark says, it is more bulky than a Weathershield or similar.

Hi David My Boxster lives outside and during bad weather snow or hot sunshine(!) I keep it under wraps. I use the outdoor cover from the company 'Cover your Car', which is specially shaped to fit the boxster and has a soft lining which will not mark your paintwork. They look good and well price, which cover do you recommend the Monsoon or the Stormforce Steve

Hi all. My Boxster livs outside all year round (can't get into garage for "man-stuff") and I have a Voyager all-weather cover from Cover-Zone which I won in our regional auction last year (much to Tommo1's regret!). It came with the original 2006 receipt of £78.45 but if you visit their website on [link=http://www.cover-zone.com]www.cover-zone.com[/link] you'll see that the prices haven't changed much and there are covers for all budgets. As I said, my Voyager is fine and is also machine washable and with mirror pockets and under body securing straps and elasticated front and rear. Great value (especially as mine only cost £20!) John
