outer driveshaft joint queery

Its easiest to do the bottom bolts of the outer joint and the top ones of inner, turning the shaft each time as the gater is in the way. Also cleaning the bolt heads is pretty important as they get filled up with crap.
That only gets the shaft off though - I think its a couple of circlips that hold everything in place then.
I've seen instructions for rebuilding CV's somewhere, its pretty easy IIRC - basically make sure everything is clean and pack with loads of moly grease.

Just swapping ends over (as some have mentioned) on one side will not work.
You are supposed to use new bolts every time, you wont want to do this when you see the price.
I used threadlock and had no problems. The previous owner did not and some bolts backed off and some snapped!

If its just started to go you can swap it with the other side, this puts wear on a different part of the bearing.

What difference is there ?.

The wear areas are different

Between swapping sides and just turning one around ?, unless I'm missing something both methods make the shaft drive in the opposite direction.

Not so easy to visualise from words[&:] so make two V signs with both hands, interlock the the V's and turn one side as if it was the drive.
Note where your fingers touch, try the different drive sides .
Has it clicked yet.......can't you tell I am a teacher!
Don't let anybody see you working this out [
How many people are actually doing this[
