hi. was just wondering if anybody knows if a double din stereo dvd player will fit in a 944 oval dash, if the cubby hole under the single din stereo is removed??

thanks in advance guys

It depends IIRC. If the device is full depth then no, because the clearance at the bottom is limited: if its shorter than a standard DIN unit then it may fit.

Some double DIN units are stepped at the rear such that the top half that contains the CD/DVD transport is deeper and the bottom half is alot less deep. I guess you'd need to look out for this type. I'm on the lookout for a double DIN unit that doesn't have a CD/DVD transport at all and runs purely off iPod and flash cards. Not seen one yet.

The only luxury remaining in my car is a pair of speakers in the rear. Im fabricating a removable mounting board for a simple amp and iPod cradle that I have, in order to provide a little entertainment beyond the cars exhaust note. So far Im not sure that I can make it all loud enough to be worthwhile though..... [:D]
