Overheating problem FIXED!

After much struggling and having to buy a new tool, I managed to change the thermostat and confirmed the old one was faulty. Radiator now gets hot and does its job of cooling the engine. I am able to drive my 944S2 again!!

I had to buy an angled circlip pliers from Halfords and undo and move the headlight motor out of the way. This enables you to see the holes in the circlips enabling the pliers to get in the holes, undo the circlip and pull out the thermostat.

Straight or 90degree circlip pliers will not quite do the job.

Just drove to work and the temp stayed or slightly above the 1/3 mark. Now onto the other 38 items on the list.

You are lucky that the clip was in the correct position to see it.

Mine had been fitted with the pump off the car so position of the clip for removal had not been considered. (good tip)

As the clip would not turn I had to use a scriber that was ground down and bent to fit.
I then used a dentist type mirror (thats really weird as you want to move in the opposite direction) and break the clip out!!

Putting the new one in as you describe.
