Overun flameout

Quick question for all, is flameout on the overun common/ healthy on a 951 (250BHP) turbo ? Apparently mine does this when backing off from full throttle on the motorway ?

It also appears to be very thirsty on the juice. Could it be overfuelling/ running rich ?

Was being followed by fellow 944 Turbo owner friend the other day and he says mine does that too when giving the loud pedal a (a hard)push!!!

Mine is 1988 too so I presume no cat where his has a cat and I have never seen his do it.

 
Rick & Tony's non cat cars do it, as does Beaky. [:)]

Beaky tends to do it when nice and hot and changing up at higher revs.

Exhausts can have a big effect on flames as well. Big, through exhausts will flame more readilly than smaller constricted exhausts, so CAT's may well stifel flames. I shouldn't think the excess fuel would do the CAT any good either.
