Please bear with me folks, this is going to sound a little bit strange, but it should be fun, honest!
SWMBO is studying theology at the moment (don't ask), and as part of that she needs to do various exercises and group study etc. just like other masters/bachelors courses. The latest one is to write a discussion paper on religious 'creeds' formed from talking to a group of believers and non believers - and as a bit of an ice-breaker on this she had an idea.
Knowing I'm a Porsche owner for many years, she asked me for some notes on what I (as an alleged typical Porsche owner) thought/believed - bit tricky I know and potentially rather problematic - but I provided some notes for her as a dutiful partner - and she came up with the below as an 'owners creed'.
At present her study group are assessing the concept - and theres lots of laughing coming from that room at the moment - they're having fun with the concept which was the point - so thought I'd share with you guys too!
p.s. I don't think it's quite right yet - it's an interpretation that needs a bit of input and modification here and here - hope you enjoy it and any suggestions/ amendments gratefully received ;-)
Creed for owners and would-be owners of Porsche cars
We believe that those who appreciate driving for the sheer thrill of it,
and who appreciate what precision can add to the driving experience,
deserve a small, lightweight sports car that uses energy efficiently.
We believe in the creator of such a machine, Ferry Porsche,
and the commitment of his company to superlative design,
high maintenance standards, and excellent service.
We believe that there is a unity of tradition and innovation in Ferry Porsche’s vision,
which guarantees that everything must work first and look great second.
We believe that a Porsche car is more than just a car.
It is an expression of freedom, and the fulfilment of a unique dream.
Ownership is a cool experience, especially when people stop and stare at you when you drive past.
Or when a young kid in a pimped-up hatch insists on beating you off the mark at the traffic lights.
We know that we can relax and sit back knowing that they haven’t a prayer of doing 0-60 in 4 seconds.
We believe in ‘man maths’ for all men and women,
which makes the hopelessly unaffordable seem unequivocally financially logical.
We will rise above accusations of having our ‘head-in-the-sand’,
and will treat our detractors with the sympathy they deserve.
We believe that ownership of a Porsche is a significant step towards the experience of heaven on earth,
and that we should all aspire to this level of excellence and reliability.
