Oxygen sensor fault -courtesy car

My 18 month old C2S with 6k miles developed an engine fault yesterday and after calling Porsche Assistance the RAC came to check the car and diagnosed an oxygen sensor fault and that the car should be taken to my OPC centre asap. On phoning the OPC was told that a courtesy car would not be available until 17 May!. While I understand that the OPC cant keep umlimited supplies of courtesy cars for all eventualities I feel not too happy with the response given that my car when bought from them was a shade less than 90K .

What should I do??

Jonathan, I'd of thought they would fix the car a lot quicker than the 17th..?
It is a poor respnse from them, I have the same issue when mine goes in- as in a long wait for a courtesy car....
However the 'other' OPC had one available the following day... so guess where it went [;)]

Obviously no help if it is the only transport.

What area are you in? I have to say that Porsche customer (dis)service is far worse than I have experienced from Audi. even though I paid three times more for my 997tt - new - than the used A8s I used to drive! Even now, Audi custolmer service for my wife's Allroad is far better than Porsche!

If there is another OPC you can get to ask them if they have a courtesy car sooner and go there or ask your current OPC how long it will take to repair under warranty and see if you can wait for it? Could you get the OPC to say you should not drive it to them and claim under Porsche Assistance? You can ask for a hire car under this?

As per Robin M, clain under Porsche Assistance and you will get a hire car - doesn't matter if it's trailered there or not.

Jonathan, have the OPC said how long they would need the car for? No expert in such matters but I would have thought that fitting a new O2 sensor would almost be a "while you wait" type job?

As already mentioned, Porsche Assist entitles you to a car of some kind regardless. Mine got trailered to OPC Silverstone on a Sunday and they bent over backwards to get me in another car, even though it meant calling a guy out to the hire office in Northampton.

Porsche Assist should supply a car while your own motor is in for repair. Just hope it isn't a diesel Jag like I got, horrid car.

My wife has been co-ordinating things as I had an extremely heavy day at work (and have another car) and the car is booked in at Hatfield for next Tuesday. My wife was told that it could be just a glitch on the compuetr but could take several hours to sort out. it is being collected and returned by the OPC.

It apparently is not a major fault and I doubt that Porsche Assistance would provide a replacement in such circumstances. I am fortunate in having an another car but am a bit miffed that now the good weather is here that I will miss "something for the weekend" etc etc.

I suppose if I did not have another car I would have been rather more pushy as I need a car for my work. Still a bit of a poor show and I dont think the service girl was particularly helpful. Unfortunately there are no other OPCs in close striking distance.

Thanks for all the advice. Will keep you posted on the outcome.

Porsche Assist will provide a car from the moment your car is undrivable to when it is repaired, regardless of how minor the problem is. They should bend over backwards to help you, and provide you with a decent car (top of most rental car ranges). You shouldn't have to fight for this - it should just happen.
