P Zero Rosso Shortage

Carreraman2s

Need 2 new rears for my 997, no Pirellis to be found anywhere. Now faced with the expenses of replacing all 4, fronts are still only 15% worn.

Anyone know where I can get 2 295/30 ZR19 ( 100Y ) N! ? P Zero Rossos

Have you spoken to a dealer ... he maybe able to either source you the tyres you need or cut you a very favourable deal to get you moving again.

Your dealer would give you 10% off with your club card.

Personally as soon as my PZero tyres wear even slightly I am going to get myself a set of (non N rated) Michelin Pilot Super Sports which everyone is raving about. They are rumoured to be on the new 991 cars, obviously with a tested N-rating so I can't see the dealers having a problem long term.

Here's some addition info on these new tyres: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=48&t=981883&i=100&mid=0&nmt=

Thanks, MeriTyre checking out for me.

Best buy online check shows speed rating R not ZR or are they equivalent ?

If they are N1 tyres they should be:

(295/30R19 PIRELLI PZERO ROSSO 100Y N1)

I can get N2's but apparently Porsche says no !

Porsche seem to be writing their own rules at the moment as if they were Cups you can now mix N ratings albeit N versions have to be the same on an axle. But there appears to be no bending of the rules for other makes.

As for the Super Sports whilst the Experience Centre maybe running these, strictly speaking that's 'Off Road' and they can fit what they like.

OPCs are still playing hard ball when it comes to warranty inspections it seems no N rated tyres no renewal. Needless to say you can 'borrow' a set of wheels and pass the inspection then refit your original set. Silly isn't it?

I've managed in being pro-active with regards to tyres so I order summer tyres in the winter and so far I have escaped any supply issues.

N Ireland but distance no object cos can use courier and have fittted here

Word from my local dealer is tyre manufacturers have reduced supplies into the UK by 25% due to the weak pound.

This being the case, have you tried retailers in ROI where, of course, they will have paid for their stock in euros?

Good luck.

Clive.

At the risk of going over old ground is different tyres front & back, whilst not ideal situation, acceptable?

Different on same axle thats a different issue

Looks like a good call Alex

N-rating is just a stamp of approval yes? So if you get them now then they wont be any different to the ones on the 991...

EDIT: don't everyone rush out and get some please as I will want some availability when the time comes in the next 6 months!!

Not quite. Porsche will test the current tyres, may ask Michelin to change the tyre to suit them, then when everything passes their tests (and some money changes hands I bet) they will then approve them. The current tyre may not be the same as the N rated one coming out later. Even if it is exactly the same tyre, it won't have the N-rating stamp so won't pass the Warranty test.

Correct .... and just because they may be N rated for the 991 (tbc) doesn't mean Porsche are under any obligation to add them to the list of authorised tyres for the older models.

Well it's a good thing then I care nothing about Porsche's stupid warranty stipulations [:D] As long as they fit my car and work well on other sports cars, what should I care if they are N-rated or not...
