Good morning all,

I recently conducted an OBD check on my 99 (T) Tiptronic Cabriolet. The error code P0740 was listed. Having done some looking around on the internet the code is something to do with Tiptronic Torque Converter.

Has anyone else experienced this error code? If so what were the symptoms? and how was the issue rectified?

The car has been fine to drive, no safe mode on the tiptronic etc... having said that it does sometimes feel a bit harsh changing down from 3 to 2, is this a symptom?

I've had a similar problem, and a tip service (transmission fluid and filter) may sort you out; the recommended change is 96000, but if the car is below this and has never had it done, or not had it done say for over 3 years, it'd probably be a good idea anyway. Other problems can be related tot he MAF, and the way the engine ECU and the gearbox electronics talk to each other. I've found Kev Waterhouse at DW Performance in Wellingborough is very good for a chat on this sort of stuff or popo in if you can get to him https://www.dwperformance.co.uk/.
