How do you prove/disprove that its Thatcham Cat 1 classification?

My insurance company are asking? (Lancaster Insurance).

The bloke also stated to make sure you do the quote on-line and not over the phone as it £100s cheaper on-line!!!!!!!

Found a website but states PA1000 is Thatcham Cat 1 approved post 1998. Mine is a 1994 C2 does anybody know if this is approved and how to get a certificate etc for it?

I have the original documentation for the alarm (dated 25.04.94) with the serial number etc....but cant find any reference to Thatcham status.

any advice?

I would ring Hamilton & Palmer (01732 760022 I believe) who I seem to remember fitted the alarms to all UK 993s.

The saga continues....

Lancaster want a certificate for approval of Thatcham Cat 1 status.....This involves taking vehicle to approved Alarm Specialist and paying for them to check whether its a Cat 1and producing the paperwork. This is even though the alarm is listed as a Cat 1 with Thatcham!!!!

Is it factory fitted? I didn't think you needed a certificate for a factory fit system, as long as it was type approved (which you have now found it is).

I would take your business elsewhere,i got a letter from opc hatfield and took it to my insurers ans they were happy with that.
Mine is a 94 C2 with the same alarm.
Cheers Dan.

When I had a similar issue with the Porsche immobiliser on my 3.2, I got the insurance company (A Flux) to ring Hamilton & Palmer directly... Which resolved my issue...

Touch wood, we have not been asked to prove the PA1000 alarm on the 993 as yet...

Adam.

If its a H&P, its not a factory fitted system... H&P systems were fitted at the dealers.

Also, the appoval also requires that the system has been fitted to the correct standards.. which many H&P's on 911's are not due to the way the wiring is attatched to the loom... or more to the point where its hooked up (ignition barrel etc)

Sorry to intrude, I am mostly a technical advisor in another register area of PCGB, but noticed this thread while lurking in this registry area )

Back to lurking unless invited lol
