Pad shim adhesive ?

Just about to fit some new front discs and Textar pads and I've read the way to stop brake squeal is an adhesive between the shim and pad, anyone done this and have a recommendation ?

Are we talking S2/Turbo Brembo's here? I replaced all my anti rattle shims with new ones and they had a self-adhesive surface for the pads to bed against. There is just enough space to get your fingers in to peel off the self-adhesive backing before sliding the new pads into place.

I've read about the adhesive route but no specific products - I've also read that a smear of copperslip (or other anti-seize compound) is also supposed to stop the noise.

We are talking turbo pads/shims and copperslip only works for a short time, apparently sticking the pad to the shim is the cure.

I have no shims and no squeal. I had many nightmares with squeals and shims. Purchased new OEM shims at one point, tried all manner of pastes and greases. All the time with pagid discs and pads. Swapped to TRW pads and the noise went away. Those pads have their own metal plate shim which seems to work. I recently replaced my discs with Sebro items. Again no noise. You will also get squeal if you have the beginnings of plate lift and have slightly binding pads. This will vary with brake temp.

Of course I could be talking crap and all my results are based on some sort of lunar alignment, however, I would suggest not bothering with expensive OEM shims, not using Pagid friction materials, and not having any plate lift!

The new pads and discs may do away with the squeal, calipers don't seem to have any plate lift. Maybe the pads/discs were just past it. Will report back.
