Paddle Shift

Hi
Has anybody fitted a paddle shift to there 996 tiptronic, I am not a big fan of the buttons on the front of the steering wheel and tend to drive it as a auto most of the time. I think if I had paddle shift I would use it manually much more. Curious to know if anybody has done it successfully? Could this be a good option: -

Hi, I've booked my 996 into edition9, I've spoken to them and they say it should only take about 4hrs. Like you I just can't get used to the buttons and I think this is the best option for me. Also from the pics I've seen they look almost factory!

Well I went to Edition9 and had the flappy paddles fitted, excellent job and what a difference to the daft buttons:)

Well Andy from edition9 has just dropped my car off and the paddles look very good almost oem Just been out for a quick blast and they are really really good!! So glad I've had it done😄

Well I've had my car a couple of days now since having the paddles fitted id I have the say I'm using them all the time now and loving it! Before I had them fitted I'd just put it in drive and not use the buttons! Now I'm just using the paddles, can't recommend edition9 enough! They look like factory and feel like very high quality paddles top job and I would recommend them to anyone!!!!

It worked when I tried it a few minutes ago.

Why don't you fit the paddles yourself? I have just done them on my 996tt and it really wasn't that difficult. Paddles were £148 from local Mercedes dealer and a couple of hours with a Dremel. I had intended to use a manual steering wheel but couldn't find one in Boxter red so in the end converted my tiptronic wheel. I did actually buy a manual wheel in a mustard colour and was going to redo it the correct colour but too difficult and costly. I resprayed the tiptronic buttons to remove the symbols and disconnected them so only the paddles work.

I cannot say how much this transforms the car like others have said. Don't really understand why this should be but my car feels quicker!!!

I still have the manual wheel if anyone is interested.
