Paddle Shifters on my 996

I've seen this on a couple of forums and from the pic's on the company's web site look really good! (www.Edition9.co.uk) and a lot cheaper than other company's! I'm seriously considering it. Just wondered if anyone has already had it done?

Thanx for the welcome, I've just had a look and they look good. The ones on the edition9 website actually look like they could be factory. I know the gear change isn't going to be any faster but they would be much easier to use than the buttons. And they are so much cheaper than any of the other company's I've looked at.

Many thanks Richard [:)]

@SYD911 Its not a bad price, but still a lot when you consider there probably paying about ÂŁ80 for those paddles.
They look like VW ones to me.

Once you have the paddles its just a case of wiring them to the existing thumb switches,so simple.

oh, and hello SYD911 [;)]

Hi thanks for the welcome and advice. I understand it still seams a lot of money but I would not feel confident in attempting the job myself. Its my daily driver so I would rather let them do the job and save me time and money poss repairing a botched job lol

Morning Syd. You wouldn't have any connection with Edition9 by any chance? Sounds a bit like a mildly concealed sales pitch to me![;)]

Morning, I dont have any connection, thats why I was asking If anyone had already had this done Its a lot of money to pay and I havnt seen many other company's offering the same. Apart from the the ones in America

I think from any companies point of view they would have to be very careful as your real close to the airbag and the 996in any variant never being made fitted tried or test with paddles.

Basically one of the reasons I never made and marketed a retro fit kit of this.

@ Syd911 if you do decide to have a go yourself just let us know if you need any help it really is about as easy as brushing you teeth.

Well I've booked my car in to have the paddles fitted next week!!!!! Edition9 say they can have it all done in about 4 hours at most so cant wait!!

I've spoken to them and they seem very good. Apparently they have had paddles fitted to one of there cars and had no issues so I'm sure they will be ok. I've also seen quite a lot of pic's and they look very good!

That section of the wheel is padded, if I were you id ask them to leave the Air bag out till you collect the car, then you can see if there just glued in or if they have made a custom bracket inside the wheel like I did so that the paddles are fixed and supported.
Its going to take 5 minutes to finish putting the airbag back and reconnecting the battery.

Remember your going to be putting pressure on them all the time when you change up and down, and like i said that section is basically a rubberised foam.

Whatever vehicle those paddles are from they would normally be clipping into a hard plastic section, Putting them into a 996 wheel is like trying to fix them to a sponge!.

Have you asked how many cars they have done this mod too or is it just there test vehicle you mention, because i think your find you are there first! and I would tread carefully.

I understand your concerns and I've had some to. I've already seen pic's
Of how they are attached on another forum and have spoken to them about it and I
am satisfied with the answers I got. As for being the first to have this done
Then I don't know but I've been told I'm not and have no reason to believe
Otherwise!
