Pads and discs

Looking to renew the front discs and pads on my S2 soon.
Should I go for the Porsche ones or else. Some mentioned the Zimmerxxx discs are better than the Brexxx (can't remember the names)? The S2 is mainly for road use.

I think it was the other way round - the view was that the Brembos were better than Zimmermans (although I could have got that wrong!). I'm going to be doing mine soon too, though I haven't sourced the discs & pads yet. I normally use my local ECP.

Cheers,
Robbo

Sebro are probably OK (I haven't used them personally), Brembo are definitely OK, Zimermann are rubbish. That said Bert will still sell you them - the only thing I've ever disagreed with him on is Zimermann disks.

I say they are rubbish for 2 reasosns - the bells rust in 5 minutes after fitting them and that looks awful, especially if you have Cup wheels. OK you can paint them but they aren't cheap enough to make that worthwhile against the others that don't need to be painted. More importantly they seem to warp slightly and cause vibration after a few thousand miles, even just in road use.

I had that exact problem when i fitted some zimermann to my merc. Utter rubbish.

I've got Sebro on mine - have lasted pretty well & survived a fair few trackdays.

I had Zimmerman ones fitted to both my old 964 and the current 944. Not had any warping issues with either car and they were/are both driven with gusto, but I would agree with Fen that the bells rust as soon as they get wet for the first time - very annoying and totally unnecessary imho.

My solution was to paint the bells before fitting them on the '44 this time.

If you can get the Brembo or Sebro for the same price, then I would choose them over the Zimmerman for that reason alone

Sebro are the ones that are suplied to Porsche.
Zimmerman are aftermarket jobs + not realy up to the task of HARD use...BUT they are ok for general use...If you can be bothered to do the painting of the bells thing ...[8|][8|]

I have Zimmerman which have warped after only 10 months and 4000 miles - avoid!
Will be therefore putting Brembo or Sebro on next...

Not sure what pads your going to use but i use EBC yellows and i have to say they seem to work very well for me, very good on track, road and when cold, no noise and with a price of around £65. a pair the price is good as well.[:)]
