Pads and possibly discs

patch

Pads are on the blink. Discs might be too @ 36,000 miles (I am sure OPC will say so). Any suggestions on suppliers and prices? I have 6 mos left on an OPC warranty (old style and price) - will external suppliers invalidate this at all ?

and... any suggestions for the best place for a tracking check please and at what sort of price? My rear tyres have just worn out and much more on the outsides than the insides. OPC suggest £200...

All the best

Hi
By coincidence, I replaced my front discs and pads last weekend. I went to Eurocarparts for oem discs and Textar pads for £168 all in. Buy on line - next day delivery! Fairly easy to do, but you'll need a torque wrench, and 10mm hex socket (male). If you're down to wear sensors you'll need those too,and some new caliper bolts, but they're all just buttons.

So long as they are Porsche parts, its not a problem on the old warranty - and neither is who does them. But they must be Porsche bits if you want to renew the warranty. That's my understanding, at any rate.

I got oem from design911 in Hainault. They were best price in London. There is a place in Devon doing mail order, claims the parts ar the same but not branded.

I fitted front and rear myself. Took a bit of time for the first set but rest were easy. It was the very first time that I did this so it's not difficult. You need the right tools. I think a previous responses has identified these. You may also want to look at the link for the workshop manuals. That helped to understand what needs to be done.

Good luck
Shahid

If you have Porsche bits fitted by anyone other than OPC you cannot qualify for the new warranty.

Not even fitted by others? So if you've gone away from the dealer chain, you're never going to able to go back. So they're actually turning away trade!

If you car has been worked on by others, you can get the new warranty, provided you have the OPC undertake a major service, and then do the 111pt inspection and fix anything wrong. Non porsche battery and non porsche hi-fi are two things that will fail you ...

Also, once you've taken out the warranty, any work by anyone else will invalidate it!

Anecdotal evidence suggests that there has been a significant fall in the number of warranties sold since this new regime came into effect. I'm glad that Porsche feel they have enough loyal customers that they can continue on this course, however they've lost me.

Thats what I was told by my local OPC and they have had my car under their care for the last 2 years (3 services and 2 lots of warranty work). I also have a non Porsche battery so thats me out in May!
