Morning All,

I am hunting for a paint code or a least some clarification is someone out there can help I would be very greatful.
I am looking for the p[aint code for a metallic silver whcih I think is 5706, in many photographs there seems to be another colour very close to the 5706 but it has a bluey hue (not a technical term) is this a separate colour or the metallic silver5706 under certain light

cheers in advance

Gary

have a look at the 356 registry forum.. i did a quick search and found lots of threads about paint colours eg: www.356registry.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=73

According to my paint code books 5706 is listed as Silver metallic and is a colour listed as being supplied during the period 1957 - 59. That date would place it before the two coat systems came into general use so it would be a fine particle silver applied in a single coat and would not be a high gloss finish. Modern metallic paint finishes are nearly all done as a base coat under a clear lacquer. The clear being a two pack or 2K system. The original paints used by Porsche at that time were either from Lechler, or Glasurit. You should check with your local car paint supplier and go visit to look through their colour cards.
