Paint Film Protection

Hi. I have posted this question in the past but am keen to have any up to date views as I will be collecting my new car at the end of this week and want paint protection.

I have earmarked 2 products, Paintshield and Ventureshield. Both claim to be virtually invisible and for a full frontal protection of my C2S Paintsheiled is quoting about £950 + VAT and Paintshield ( Bodyguard UK) £699 inclusive. I suspect that Paintshield's price may be negotiable.

Does anybody have experience of these products and does the more expensive sytem offer more?

From my experience the installation is key to it being virtually invisible. If you get the Paintshield done at their HQ in Grantham then there should be no problems, but if you get anyone else to do it I'd definitely check out their work first.
I believe since mine was done last year the bonnet can now be done in one piece, and they wrap the film over most of the edges.
For a little extra money I'd look at getting the door handle recesses done, and maybe the inside of the door sills, not forgetting the door mirrors if they're not included in the full frontal.
Good luck.

Blimey - you can completely re-paint panels for much less than that! [&:]

EXACTLY why I didn't bother doing mine. Touch-up paint sticks or Chips-away for a few years, then re-paint as required. Sods-Law says you will get a few chips just beyond where you cover. Plus you have to replace the film every few years anyway.

From my understanding, if you sell back to an OPC they deduct cost of respray whether or not you have have plastic film.

True... but as we have said before, they (Porsche/OPC) have to as the owners seem to expect that the car will be like new even when buying a used car..

Bit like the warranty, partly customers expectations... its just a collection of nuts and bolts put together in a certain way that makes a 911, they are "can" go wrong

I have used Paintshield on many occasions (5 cars now covered over the past 3 years - not least my current 996 Turbo, which is fully covered front to rear and top to bottom); my choice was as the result of much investigation and, ultimately, my confidence in Tom Wakeford and all at Paintshield HQ.

Just so that there is no confusion, the original poster appears to have made an error: Bodyguard is nothi ng to do with Paintshield; instead it is a Ventureshield operation. Moreover, the Paintshield price of £950 plus VAT will be for a full frontal coverage: front PU, full bonnet, full wings and both wing mirrors; on the other hand, for £699 inclusive, I suggest that Ventureshield is offering what was call the 'Industry Standard' kit: full front PU and wing mirrors but only half the bonnet and half wings.

I hope that this helps?

I spoke to Tom Wakeford the other day. A very good salesman and my car should now have paintshield applied full frontal at my OPC this afternoon. His system does seem pricey but I think (hope) you get what you pay for and I will see the result on Saturday when I pick up my car.
