Paint for the black bit on the door 'B' pillar?

As my car is currently in the bodyshop for some remedial/preventative work, I was musing about the black paintwork on the trailing edge of the driver's door 'B pillar' which has worn away slightly over the years through many hands sliding across this area. Anyone resprayed this black bit, or know the appropriate paint code?

Ta muchly[:D]

I had mine done a few years ago but I think it was just done with a general satin black colour too. I have wondered if painting this body coloured on a red car might look good (as on the 968's).

Hmm, I did think it was more satin black than gloss black, so that confirms it.

I think I want to stick with the standard exterior appearance, especially as the mechanical bits are anything but[8|][:D]

Next on the 'to do' list then when I get back from hols and the car back from the bodyshop...

How come my 'to do' list never seems to get any shorter, no matter how much I get done....?![8|][:D]

When i had the sills redone on mine, they guys there went round and tidied up the car in general, this included painting the door posts a satin black - took me 2 days to notice as i was too busy looking at the sill work [:)]

Alex, I might ask the guys at Trevor Farringtons to do it, whilst it is in....

Were you happy with their work?

definately! A bit pricey but the work is excellent. Very friendly bunch too. What work you having done?

I have seen a company that makes a vinyl sticky-backed plastic cover for this area so that is an option. Not sure what it would look like body coloured. Maybe someone with photshop could work their wizzardry to give us an idea?

Yes, not the cheapest quote I had, but looking round the eclectic mix of vintage and classic cars they had in the workshop being restored and/or race prepared, I felt more than happy entrusting the car to them. All very friendly, as you say.

They are stripping the lower front wings and sills back to metal, treating any corrosion (all surface rather than internal I hope & they seem to agree...[]) and then reapplying the stonechip paint etc.

Also painting the roof and sunroof panel, which had several chips to its trailing edge and being plastic/glassfibre needs expertise that I do not possess!

Dropped it off last Thursday, so should have it back by the time I get back from holiday, mid July.

I have asked them to do me some photographs of the work in progress for me to keep with the rest of the invoices I am collecting.....[8|][:D]

I think ive seen this and it looked odd, might just be me though [:D]

They had a fantastic bunch of cars there over the time mines been in, Escort mk1 rally in white and blue which looked fantastic and a fully restored Jag E-Type. Plus a restored 914 and an old race prepared TVR that i can't remember the name of - i spent a while there looking round [:)]

Was the 914 a red 914/6 with a 911 engine in it, prepared for road rallying?

I fell in love with that, especially those lovely bubble arches!

That Mk1 rally Escort was also very covetable....[:)]

I'm going to pop in on my way home later on to see if they've made a start[:)]

I tried some of those from a Canadian company I was buying other, more important, parts from at the same time.

They were absolutely horrendous things and went straight in the bin rather than on my car. Stay well clear "¦
