Paint Protection Film?

Hello,

Looks like I am getting the front wings and front end respray done on my S2 soon. Therefore I'm interested in protecting the paint somehow (not a bra[:'(]), there are a few paint protection films available from paintshield and ventureshield. Has anyone had this kind of protection fitted to thier 944 or vehicle?

Ideas on whether its worth doing?

Cheers
Edd

Armourfend on mine.

Avoid.

Works well, avoids chips, but looks like the worst of the worst spray jobs you have ever seen.

Oli.

I've seen it on some modern Porsches, not sure what brand, but it was completely invisible to me. Even though it was pointed out I still couldn't tell. The only way I could tell there was film on the car and was not having my leg pulled was that the film only went about 3/4 of the way up the Boxsters bonnet as the size of the stock film wasn't wide enough to completely cover so there was a very feint horizontal line, which again you'd only spot if you knew what to look for. So gets the thumbs up from me, but it wasn't cheap. £1500 for the bonnet (or 3/4 of the bonnet), front valance and wings. Having said that is was guaranteed for life against stone chips. Looks far better than those daft bra things. I'd rather pay for a front end respray every few years than use one of those things.

A friend has Ventureshield on his 997 gt3 and it is very good. Like anything though it is down to the application more than anything so ask to see the fitter's previous work or references, etc.
