im struggling to track down touchup paint for my VooDoo Blue 2017 GTS

paunt factors don't recognise the code Z12, and Porsche don't have it on their system as a part, having spent 30 minutes on the phone with them earlier...

Thanks, I'll give them a call Monday, don't want to order then they cancel as dont recognise code, local companies have all said no problem then declined

just found it on Dr Colorchip, seems expensive, but at least from the code they came back with Porsche VooDoo Blue.

i have PPF, so thought this wouldn't be an issue, but got one close to door handle, no PPF! Don't think it's a something when opening door as deep, probably a stone skipped up by oncoming vehicle. Nothing major, about 1mm, just annoying seeing white primer.

When you search the Reg on chipex it comes back as "Blue"? That may be ok, but who knows.
I've gone with Dr Colorchip as only site that actually recognises the paint code as VooDoo

ill report back once recieved, as said it's a tiny 1mm chip, but over its life it's going to get more, even with front PPF

thanks all

I have a 2017 C4GTS in Mexico Blue, got my touch up paint from Halfords, they mixed it up in the store from the code and it's a perfect colour match.

That was my first port of call. Halfords no longer mix paint on site, they get it done remotely and you pick it up three days later, but guess what... their system didn't recognise the Porsche code..

Bearing in mind it's Paint To Sample so it could have been a match from anything have you considered that it was not an original Porsche Paint Colour like Mexico Blue (from 1974) ? because a search that I did here http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?comm=Voodoo+blue&rows=50&button=Search shows it as a Toyota colour? Just another idea to help.

I seem to remember something about printers having a "doofer" that can identify the Pantone code of pretty much anything. Might be worth a phone call? Any modern paint mixing system can work to pantone or manufacturer codes

I've got a pot of Toyota VooDoo Blue arriving from Amazon tomorrow, £4.99 lol

was suggested on another forum..

also Dr Colorchip have mixed some to the Z12 paint code, which ships from America tomorrow

So the first piece of feedback, the Toyota VooDoo blue has arrived.. it's no where near, much darker.

so now I have two other options going on, a friend who works at a body shop has mixed what they think, get this Saturday. Then I have the Dr Colorchip, which is mixed in America, arriving next week.

fingers crossed..

Ok, to finish this one off;

Toyota voodoo blue to dark

Paint mixed at body shop good match, but doesnt apply well.

Dr Colorchip, perfect match, goes on well, and you can build it high, then level it with the leveling solution supplied. Really impressed. I tried it on my Mettalic Sakhir Orange M4, and wasn't great, but on this flat paint it works well. Almost £50 for whole kit, and took 10 days, but I'm happy..

I've looked at this system before (Mr Colorchip) and was cautious at the "levelling" element. How long did that take? Did you use the squeegee or the "dab and smear" method?

Cheers

I did spread it over a couple of days. I didn't us the instructions. It comes with some tiny little brushes, like a cocktail stick with some tiny bristle. I used this and added thin coats like i would with normal touchup. I wasn't intending to level it as it looked good.

But curiosity got the better. I was concerned that the leveling solution would effect the clear coat, but the paint is not the same as the car is painted with, so it has no effect on the existing paint at all, no matter how long you leave it on (tried inside door shut). And leveling makes you think abrasive, but their is no abrasion, its like normal polish in texture, if not smoother. It actually works like a thinner, but as said no effect on the Porsche paint. Clever system.
