Painting Brake Calipers?

Wanted to find out is there anything special when taking brake calipers out? I wanted to either repaint mine black as they are now, or maybe red (anyone got pics of a black 986 with red calipers, need to convince the missus?). Actually got a mate who is detailing the car and he says he can do the calipers too if I want, but I wanted to check there was nothing special or tricky?

Not the best image but the only one I had to hand. This is my 986 S with red calipers.

This will show you what is involved and allthough it would raise the question " When is an S not an S " [8|]

Just make sure you use High temperature paint for Brake Calipers and they are very very clean before you start.

Thanks for the info, now to decide on colour, he's not doing this till next month so fair amount of time to decide.

I'm getting nervous going red, swas going just stick with black, but now am thinking of a dark grey just to be different???

I would love to do this too, red looks great and would match my seats. I know spraying them is the best thing to do but I don't have the expertise to take the brakes apart. I'm considering using a brush like i've done with previous cars but the finish is never as good.

What other options are there?

Kind of cheating myself and a good mate you does feel comfortable doing these things is going to do it. Just need to figure what bits I need to buy.

Stickers (seen them on porsha-part)
red spray??? Type? Something that last well.
Lacquer? Anything special needed here?
Some brake fluid. Does boxster have specific brake fluid?
Anything I have missed?

Just had mine painted black while it was in the garage having a wing resprayed (as this seemed off-colour to rest of car). I too wanted to go red but was told this was the colour for the S model and that mine needed to be black if I was to stay original. Just bought caliper stickers off ebay for £3.99 + 41p p&p (vizualimpact@yahoo.com) will fit them when I next take wheels off for cleaning. John

WOW, they look fantastic, did you do them yourself?

.....can you do mine?
If only. Can't take the credit for this a good mate of mine is doing this for me. Still waiting for them to go back on and see the finished article will post pics once they are on.
