Paintwork and Bird Doo-Doo

My car has a couple of marks on the lacquer on the boot lid. According to ChipsAway bloke, it's been caused by the car being bombed at some point in the past and the stuff not being wiped off quickly. It doesn't show except in certain lights but it's a bit annoying. ChipsAway won't touch it as he doesn't feel he could do a good job and suggested a respray being the only alternative. If it really is the only alternative, I can live with it as it is but if anyone know's different.....

The car is Meridian Metallic by the way (just off silver).

Try Meguires Scratch X to remove the stains and also their clay-bar.
Once you get rid......Rejex is the answer for keeping brid crap at bay.

I had a few of those [] Depending on how deep the acidic pooh ate into the paint you can possibly polish it off yourself.

Try a good polish like Zymol HD-Cleans, 3M finesse-it or DT-Concours. If that does not work then try a clay bar:

Finally a bodyshop could machine mop it to restore the surface of the paint.

Follow all of this with a good protective wax and try to wipe bird muck off asap. I have a whole family of the devils who watch me wash the car from the safety of their hedge before taking great delight in dive bombing it once I go inside []

I got my own back on the seagulls which had been continually dive bombing my car... I climbed up onto the roof and cra**ed in their nest![;)]

Mind you, the saleman did say it would attract the birds![:D]

I got bird poo on the bonnet of my C4S on the hottest day of last year.
Literally baked it on and when I wiped it off at the end of the day it left marks probably very similar to yours.
Chipsaway in Woking were more than helpful. The chap immediately went to work on it, polishing it out. Took him about an hour & he wanted no money for doing it !!
The result was perfect too.

Julian.

Just be careful, as I have learnt to my cost over the years, if you park near a river where ducks, etc. may be, their cr@p contains grit. When you rub it off, even with a wet sponge/cloth, the grit can easily scratch the paint or even glass (as I managed today).
Whilst it is asy to say just wipe it off as soon as possible, in the real world this may not be for many hours or even weeks (if you are on holiday and the car is at the airport). The only chance you have is to build up a few coats of wax on it.

From what I've been told, 'Zymol' is totally resistant to bird carp, no matter how long you leave it; is this true?

I have Jewelultra Diamond Brite on my car, which has its own benefits, but bird carp has to be cleaned off fairly quickly to prevent damage to the finish.

It does seem to resist it quite well.
Bear in mind that is also depends on the type of bird (seagulls are the most acidic I believe) and the time of year (autumn is worst since they eat the most berries, so it is more acidic).

It is best not to leave it for longer than necessary, but you don't have to rush out every few hours to check.
