Paintwork help

Incept

New member
Hi All,

Ok I've tried. I've been sat Googling paintshops and any other way of describing quality body shops all morning and I'm getting nowhere.

I'm trying to get some advice as to how best to approach some minor cosmetic bodywork on my 2S (subject of a previous post).

Does anyone know of a absolutely top notch body shop in Yorkshire or the North East?

I live East of York and would prefer not to have to travel too far unless I have to widen the search.

I know recommendations are always difficult and I won't hold anyone responsible!

And whilst I'm on the subject, what's your position on cosmetic paintwork: How does it effect values?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try Lockwood Autobodies in Leeds. They've just done my C2S and I'm bowled over with the job they've done. I can't recommend them highly enough and the price was very reasonable. They had three other 993's in the place at the time as well, so you might say they're knowledgeable about them. The nice thing was I got a courtesy call half way through the week just to update me on how the work was going and they returned the car to me totally valeted inside and out. Great service!

The number is (0113) 2718282. Ask for Andy.

Hi,

Thanks for this. It really helps to get a recommendation like this.

Bye the way, if it's not rude of me, what were they doing for you? I'd be interested if it was anything like I'm thinking of.

Cheers,

Chris

They've corrected a dent that someone put in my front wing, sprayed the front and both sides of the car, repaired two areas of corrosion on the passanger sill and fitted new seals to the wings and bonnet. The colour match is amazing on a car that isn't the easiest colour to get right in the first place.

It looks like a new car now........[:D]

Hi,

That sounds great.

I've got some recurring flaking on the inner wheelarches which needs bottoming once and for all: I'll give them a call.

Cheers,

Chris

I'm sure you won't be disappointed with their work. I received several good comments about their work from people that know my car well at Harewood yesterday. You might have to leave the phone ringing for a little while because everyone there works on the cars; they don't have any front of house, so it's a case of whoever gets to it first.

Keep me posted as to how you go on.

Regards

Mark at Bodyworks, Elvington Industrial Estate tel 01904 607788 has just done my 993 C2, front scuttle, front wheel arches (the usual frailties) and both rear wings and stone guards. Had a dent man into his shop first and did all the minor dings.

Looks like a new car, fantastic job, he specialises in Porsches and BM's and was recommened by RPM and GMUND.

I think/feel he cares!

Top man.

I can recommend Bill Heaney of Newcastle, he is the NE approved Porsche repair centre. 0191 2658511. He re-aligned and sprayed my front bumper and replaced a windscreen. Quality work by quality guys, also done work on the wifes SAAB.
