Paintwork Part 1....

As many of you know, I love my Boxster S to bits. I have spent a lot of money over the last four years keeping the car in tip top condition and given it the odd tweak here and there. One part of the car I'm OCD about is the bodywork and keeping it clean. Its no garage queen but when you have a Porsche, no matter which model, you want to keep it looking great. As we all know, stones are our enemy and these cars take some punishment in that department and mine is no different. So last year I decided the time had come to sort the front and rear bumper out and the odd chip on the bonnet. Once this was done I would then have Ventureshield applied to protect the new paint. The only problem was the season wasn't finished and I didn't want to miss any drives do I decided to leave it until the beginning of March this year.

Having talked to various members of R3 and DDB Detailing I decided to get a couple of quotes from companies that had been recommended. To cut a long story short, I decided to go with Ian at Heaton Park Coachworks. Ian has massive experience with Porsches of all years and takes care of £100K + super cars and Dave at DDB said he was the best (he is).

It turns out because my car is metallic that I would have the front bumper and bonnet completely done with the wings blended in. The rear bumper would also be done to get rid of the normal road rash due to it being rear wheel drive.

The car had been in for around nine days and I arrived this morning to pick the car up; it was parked outside looking amazing. Ian said "have a good look at it and make sure I am happy with it". Happy is an understatement! The paintwork is flawless and the colour matching is perfect. Have a look at the photos below.

Having driven the car home and avoided any stone chips, I have a two week wait before driving it to DDB to have the Ventureshield and Gtechniq applied. Watch this space for part 2....

This is a great piece Mark, it is very informative and will no doubt give others a fantastic insight into the quality of workmanship that is available to us here in the North East. I know we always try to endorse supporting Lloyd's, our local Porsche approved bodyshop but it is always good to have genuine first hand recommendations for other places should members feel they want to shop around or try alternative repairers. I know that, with your eye for detail, if you say it's a good job it will be excellent.

Cheers Greg, always good to share top workmanship and great customer service. I felt Ian at Heaton Park Coachworks had great enthusiasm and passion for what he does. He took time to explain what the best way forward was and what he would do. The results speak for themselves[:)]
