Panamera 970.2. Switched Fuse Drivers Side

Hi,

I’ve got an unusual battery drain and have had a new battery fitted. No probs with that but drain is still there so I’m checking my accessories are wired into the correct fuse.

I have a JoyeAuto CarPlay Unit and currently connected into Fuse 30 on driver’s (RHS) side fuse box. I don’t have a voltmeter but does anyone know which fuse in this compartment is switched so the unit only turns on/off with the ignition key?

Many thanks for your help.

Sounds like that’s your problem. How about picking the rear wiper fuse or front wipers? Assuming that fuse is in the box?

Sorry - I can't help with your specific question, but I had a battery drain problem when I first got my car and it turned out to be a failed LED in the boot which was not illuminating but still taking power and resulted in a flat battery if not used for a week. Hope this might help.

Wow, something as obscure as that can cause a battery drain! My worry is I have something similar as I’m clutching at straws with the fuses.

How did you go about locating the problem Graham?

Sorry, but again I can't help. I took mine back to the (not Porsche) dealership where I bought it as it was still under 3 month warranty. The mechanic told me he just opened the boot to access the battery and spotted the bulb not working. Changed it and no drain. Problem solved.

I'm no mechanic but I think the only way is to connect up a meter so that it is visible from outside the car, lock it, leave a few minutes so that everything that will shut down has shut down, then measure drain. Remove one fuse and repeat process until you identify source of drain. You can speed up the process by removing (say) 10 fuses at a time. If you get a big improvement you know it is one of that 10 and can work through them. Bear in mind that various things like alarm, seat memories, radio etc all use a little power anyway. Hopefully, someone on this list or at your local Porsche Centre will be able to tell you what typical normal drain is.

Good luck!

Graham.
