Park Assist appears to be dead.

Hello PCGB members,
This is my first post on the forum and I was wondering if someone could help with my Park Assist problem on my 2006 Boxster 3.2 S.
I purchased the car in October last year, it has been going really well but a couple of days ago I happened to be looking at the Data Bank at the start of my Service book and one of the optional extras is the Park Assist (i635).
Since I've had the car, the Park Assist has not worked and I thought it was just not installed at the factory but now that I can see it should be there I though I would try to get it functioning.
The fuse for the PA is installed in the fuse box and looks okay and I can see the sensors on the rear bumper.
Could someone please tell me where Park Assist module is normally fitted so that I can check for any bad connections etc. ?
Thanks very much.

It’s under the passenger seat next to the rear control module.

They often get drowned (along with the rear control unit) if the drains get blocked - perhaps that happened and someone pulled the plug to prevent the battery drain or constant warning sounds.

If a visual inspection seems ok then suggest getting it plugged into something with Porsche smarts.

Whereabouts are you. Someone local to you might have some suitable diag kit.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your reply.
I'm just outside Worcester (Region R13).
I'll get the car out of the garage tomorrow and check for the module, weather permitting :)
Cheers

Hi,
Managed to check out my Boxster on Monday and not Saturday.
Removed the passengers seat and found the ParkAssistant module in-place and connected, also checked the fuse again (Row C Fuse 6 - Blue 15 amp) and it looks okay but swapped it for a new fuse anyway.
When I start up the car and select reverse, nothing happens, does anyone know how to check the module?

Many thanks
Alistair

You need to get it plugged into something with Porsche smarts to see if the module is talking to the rest of the car or if there are any codes logged. Better diag units will have the ability to read things like individual sensors etc.

Could be “ lots of things “
Faulty coding, faulty sensors, faulty reverse light switch but without data it’s guesswork.

2nd hand units are plug and play - no coding required so that’s a maybe if you are inclined to throws parts at the problem but I prefer to understand an issue.

If you are inclined to buy a tool then the icarsoft por2 and 3 are good but I prefer a foxwell nt530 myself. - other kit is available, my recommendation based on what I have used.

Worth reaching out to your local region organisers - see if there's anyone local with the diag kit - too far away from me - but I have a standing "offer" via my region for anyone who needs help - others may do the same.

Thanks for the information Paul.
I'll get in touch with my regional organiser but if no luck I will by my own diag kit.
Thanks for your help.
