Parking at Goodwood Festival of Speed?

Hi,

I'm considering taking my 997 to the Goodwood FoS (as a spectator, not a participant!), but their website cautions against 'low slung or sports cars' - does anyone have any experience of this being a problem?

Thanks for your advice, John

You will sit in a traffic queue for a while to get in, then you get parked in a field (different depending on the direction of approach).
If you are coming from the North - then the field I once was parked in involved a long drive across a couple of fields to the car park.
The approach from Chichester lands you in a flatter field, but could still prove problematic for very low cars (there is often a metal road put down to protect the highly traffic'd entrance from being too rutted up).
From this car park you then have a 20 min walk to the show.

We don't bother taking the Porsche anymore - there's no point in this case (apart from a more pleasant drive at the beginning of the journey [:D] )

How old are you lot?! [:D] Drive there in your pride and joy, enjoy the event and have a good blast home. It used to get really muddy when the weather was bad, Glastonbury style, but they've mostly sorted that now and I've never had a problem with clearance, even in a GT3 RS. Take the 997 or get your pipe and slippers out!

If you have a motorbike, they have a great facility for bikers. Ride there, leave your leathers etc ina bag they provide and they store the bag for the day. You look around the festival in shorts and a t-shirt and then collect your gear at the end of the day.

Best bit is riding home past all the traffic!!

I went last year. You do park in a field. I had to drive across a number of fields to do this. This was no problem for me. There were plenty of cars lower than 997s and more expensive doing the same.

You will really enjoy the event if you've never been. The noise, the sounds, the smells.
