Parkside Maidstone? Help please

Hi there,

I'm trying to buy a 993 from someone who says the car's supplying dealer was Porsche Parkside Maidstone.

I've tried to contact - but realised there is not such main dealer in Maidstone. As the car was sold in 1995, my question is - was there a Porsche dealer in Maidstone in 1995?

Cheers and thanks for your help

Gary

Yes there was..I dont remember what happened to them.
Pearl or Phil might know .It was near Dutton Forshaw

Try asking Porsche at Tonbridge ?

My 1994 968 coupe was supplied by them - the history file included the original purchase order, delivery invoice and a few other bits. I think the owners of Porsche Tonbridge took them over.

Many thanks, much appreciated. Tonbridge stated there has never been a dealer in Maidstone - so this is why I was confused. I'm looking for confirmation that they supplied a car I want to buy, now I can go back to them.

Cheers again - big help.

Gary

Gary, I'm not 100% sure Tonbridge are correct. My 1994 968 coupe was ordered (in October 1993) by a guy named Geoff Rothery, who is still a client of Porsche Tonbridge. He lives Dartford way and I'm pretty sure the supplying dealer was Maidstone - but I no longer have the history file from my car, and have lost track of where she went from Buckingham.

Many thanks. I think the dealer was called Parkwood, rather than Parkside. Porsche GB Reading has confirmed the dealer did exist - and that Tonbridge is now the regional dealer - but didn't have the customer base from Maidstone.

Seems car I am trying to buy is a Swiss (C10), and didn't get sold through the normal UK dealer network. Probably a true grey import back in 1995. I believe there was a long wait list for 993s - so chap bought through a Swiss, RHD and miles on clock.

I don't think this is an issue now...

Cheers

Gary

From memory having lived in maidstone at the time, Parkwood Porsche definately exisited. Steve Dennis one of Porsche centre Tonbridge's sales team used work at Parkwood (he might might have been the salesman on the 993 you mention)! I seem to recall it was possibly called Waldrons before that. The Maidstone Porsche centre closed after the death of the owner(suicide ?) and closure of the company if my memory serves me correctly. The later Lindbrook and now Porsche centre Tonbridge were owned by a different parent company (sytner group i think) Hence why the database did not carry over. Do i get a team point for useless trivia[:D]

Steve Dennis is still at Porsche Tonbridge - I bought my 968 coupe from him in November 1998, and we see him every time we (as in R25!) visit Porsche Tonbridge.
