Why do the so called body in white shells have two versions for each model ? Normal one and one with M650 against it .

Just before you try I always ask the parts guy to type the part nos in when i'm in the OPC just in case

My ultimate Porsche would start with a brand new 944 or 968 shell. I would then put all my favorite parts on to create a 944 S4. ( i'm counting the 968 as an S3 version of a 944 )

Sunroof !!!!!!!!!

I couldn't think what it might be.

No you cant get a new shell. I've had the parts guy in Glasgow put all the numbers for the bodies into the system and they all come up as unavailable even the left hand drive versions.I'd love one though.

can you actually get a new body shell today

No...

Someone did try to order one but it was NLA.

Given that a rear hatch glass is something like £4K, imagine the price for a new shell?

I haven't seen one for 20+yrs. Officially BiWs are only available whilst the model is current. After that its luck. A formerly bent, but now too respectable for any of you to even entertain the notion, specialist (before he owned a specialist company and no his name doesn't begin with P) had an S2 shell in 1994, but in reality is was from a stolen car and painted in primer. I haven't even seen one advertised as such since then.
