Part number help please

Hopefully someone can help me on this. I am going to get a Pioneer AVIC D3BTi double DIN unit installed into the 996 when I get it and to do this I need to order some trim pieces from Porsche.

I need the replacement "horseshoe" bit with the double DIN hole (instead of the aircon and single slot radio I have) and also the trim piece to mount the aircon unit down under the cd trays.

Speaking to my local OPC the chap wasn't 100% sure what I was on about so I wanted to check the part numbers I have been given with you guys first before I order if that's ok?

2001 996 C2
Horse-shoe piece 996.552.131.05.A03 (black)
Aircon piece 996.552.339.00.01C (black also)

If these are correct then I can get them ordered up.

Also, where is the best place to get one of those very nice Tequipment gear levers with the crest on and the silver trim on the base?

Thanks, Guy

Yes - those are the correct part numbers. The rubber grommets that hold the trim into the frame are part number 191.853.615.A (2 required) but you can re-use the ones from the old trim piece if you want,

You might also want to consider using the cubby which goes in position 3 if you want to get rid of the CD holder. 996.552.253.01.01C

The guy who installed mine cut the bar out of the original "horseshoe". Saved some money, but not if you want to put it back to standard when you sell the car. If you do decide to cut the old horseshoe, you need to make a trim piece to fill the gap at the top. I cut up the old a/c trim, which worked quite well.

Thanks for the confirmation Richard.

Think I will keep the CD holder to put the map disks in - plus whatever happens to be my newest CD and therefore the most listened to!

I will keep the standard radio so I may want to put it back together again at some point in the future. Anyway, the trim piece is only £50 = VAT so not TOO bad really.

Guess I cant use the set-up from the newer fascia with the cup holders?

Thanks, Guy

Apparently, the new fascia with cupholders can be fitted, but there are lots of other bits you would need. The outlet duct from the aircon is different, and the horseshoe is quite a bit different. A lot of work and expense, just so that you can spill fizzy drinks all over your new system!! If you are keen to do it, take a look at renntech.org, where you will find posts from people who have done it. If you do a search for "cupholders" you'll get more results from people who want to take them out than people who want to put them in!

Hmmm, don't think I shall bother - just curious as I thought I saw one going cheapish on Ebay.

Any suggestions for the nice Tequipment gear knob?

Getting a touch excited now as I pick her up on Saturday.......
