Partial boost problem

nags

New member
I have a 944 turbo and it is having some boost production problems...

At times, it is not making full boost pressure (but always makes some). It will get quite happily to around 1.2bar (on the dial), but generally not any further. Other than that, it's running fine.

I can't really replicate the problem on call, however it does seem to be able to 'build up' boost all the way to 2 bar if I use partial throttle - but drops back off as the accelerator is pushed harder. The main suspect is the wastegate at the moment, but as it is generally able to hold boost using partial throttle, I'm beginning to wonder whether that is the wrong tree to bark up.

The boost solenoid has been ruled out, has anyone experienced anything similar?

We had the same problem with "Faye" .... We had connected up the boost control valve incorrectly......I felt a right muppet for that []

Look on Clarks.... Section 6.0 as Paul said [;)] without Clarks Id be lost.....[;)]

:) I sorted it out in a slightly more roundabout way. Had the wastegate changed to a dual-port, a manual boost controller and some tuned chips fitted. Sledgehammer being used to crack a nut compared to the cycling valve - but very happy with the power, particularly the delivery of it after the upgrade.

That's the way we like to do things around here [:D]

Any plans to get the new improved beastie back on track with full boost?
