Parts needed.

I require a right had tiptronic steering wheel switch, a new handbrake cover and if any one knows of a dent free burgandy boot lid, I'd be very interested.

You could try Douglas Valley Breakers. They appear to have rather a lot of rather bent Boxsters:

Porsch-Apart are good: http://www.porsch-apart.co.uk

If the Tip switch just needs a new black rocker, you can buy them from Porsche as a separate part (c.£26). The complete switch is silly money, so you would be better looking for a used one.

Cheers for the link. I've just tried them without much success. They don't have a burgandy car in and they don't sell/remove the tiptronic switches so they could only sell me a complete steering wheel.

If I got a new steering wheel, will I need it 're-setting' to my car or is it just a case of fitting and off you go?

You can swap steering wheels - no problem. You have to remove the airbag, so disconnect the battery before you start, and don't reconnect until you have finished. Otherwise you will get an airbag warning light which will need resetting using a Porsche tester.

When disconnecting the battery, switch on the ignition, then switch it off, but leave the key in the ignition. This will stop the alarm siren going off when you disconnect. Also, make sure you have the radio code, and leave the front lid unlatched.

Might be an ideal time to upgrade to a 3-spoke wheel if yours is a 4-spoke.

There is another Porsche breaker in Leeds you could try. I think they are called Prestige Salvage.

I quite like the idea of the 3 spoke, it does look a lot sleeker. I take it all the Boxster/996 steering wheels are interchangeable? I've just had a look and they all seem to be the same but thought I'd better check before parting with my money!

I have a 3 spoke tip wheel for sale!

Ah, yes. That will teach me for not reading it properly!

However, I may have solved the problem initially as I've just bought a complete tiptronic steering wheel (4 spoke) for £34 which get's around the problem of the faulty selector switch quite nicely.

I would like to upgrade to the later style wheel but I think I will leave it until I have all the other jobs done, just in case anything turns out to be more problematic/expensive than expected.

Hopefully, the part for the roof will arrive this week and once that's all done and sorted I'm fairly happy that everything else is a fairly cheap/quick fix.

Mike, your car doesn't by any chance have a savannah interior (cream)?

I used to have an Arena red (I assume that's the colour your car is?) tiptronic 2.5 Boxster with savannah interior. I can't imagine they are that common. I was wondering if yours used to be mine.

Excellent that's my first Porsche! I loved that car. I am that London piece of the puzzle.
Does the number plate start with VIL? I remember the owner was a lovely chap. His inspection consisted of starting the car, blipping the throttle a couple of times, waiting 30 seconds, and saying 'I'll have it' lol

Such a shame it got in a state. I have lots of pictures of it and perhaps a running report too if you're interested? I'd love to see what it looks like now.

I've just realised that I've got all the books for it so I've just checked the service book and your names not in it unless you never entered it in there?
It came from JCT600 in Leeds and now has a number plate starting with A18 on it.

Hmm then maybe it's not my old car. This is a picture of it.
